San Diego Model Railroad Museum

Learn about American railroading through educational programs, displays, toy trains, and scale models of California railroads and communities.

Spanning over 27,000 square feet of trains, trestles, and tracks, permanent exhibits include the Toy Train Gallery, the Centennial Railway Garden, Pacific Desert Lines, the Tehachapi Pass, and The Cabrillo Southwestern and the San Diego & Arizona Eastern.

Newest exhibit: “All Aboard! Passenger Cars” is open now! See how people sat, ate, and slept in 8 types of passenger cars from various decades and regions of the USA.

The museum also offers school programs, scout programs, and summer camps. Visit their Educational Resources for content and activities for kids.

Located inside Balboa Park, inside the Casa de Balboa Building. Open Tuesday – Sunday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
