Mount Wilson Observatory

Docent-led walking tours of the Observatory are available every Saturday and Sunday starting April 4, 2020. There will be two per day, one at 11:30 a.m. and another at 1:00 p.m. They leave from the Cosmic Café located above the large parking lot at the entrance to the Observatory. These tours can run up to two hours.

Tours allow visitors to enter the area directly beneath the 100-inch Telescope and entrance into the 60-inch dome. On most tours, their solar astronomer will have the 150-foot solar tower telescope open as well, providing an opportunity for visitors to safely observe the sun.

Visitors are also welcome to do self-guided tours using the visitor’s guide. Private tours can be scheduled and include a walk around the grounds, a talk on the story of the institution, and visits to the major telescopes.
