OCTOBER 1-31: All month long, kids 12 and under receive FREE admission with a paid adult to more than 50 of San Diego County’s favorite museums, historic sites, aquariums, gardens and more. Many are even free for the whole family.
EVERY FIRST THURSDAY: The first Thursday of every month is Free Day. Admission is free of charge with advance reservation.
SEPTEMBER 7 - NOVEMBER 18: Meet zoo staff for a fun time of exploration and discovery at a local park. Each week features a new theme, activities, and animal friend.
FIRST FRIDAYS: Experience Kidspace Children's Museum for free! Advanced reservations are required.
OCTOBER 7 - FEBRUARY 3: It's a farmer's market meets street fair. Enjoy family games, over 75 vendors, axe throwing, food trucks, live music, sweet treats, and more. Free.
OCTOBER 8: Explore a dozen DIY art projects including printmaking, sculpture, tie-dye, and collage. Grab a snack from food vendors, enjoy live music and dance performances, and enjoy a guided nature walk through the park's Secret Garden.
SEPTEMBER 10 - DECEMBER 27: It's a farmer's market meets street fair. Enjoy family games like giant Jenga and Connect Four, shop from vendors, slime making, axe throwing, Nerf court, live music, beer garden, and more.

OCTOBER 9 - JUNE 11: The Wallis continues its beloved free monthly outdoor Sunday Funday family events with a variety of engaging programming that includes Story Pirates, Parker Bent, Spring Groove, Kiddle Karoo, and more!
SECOND SATURDAY, AUG 13 - DEC 10: Drop in for a free drawing lesson for all ages! Watch a selection of cartoons and learn how to draw a Looney Tunes character - a different one every session - taught by skilled teaching artists.
OCTOBER 9: Live demos, meet firefighters and lifeguards, see an antique fire engine, enjoy photo ops, bounce house, face painting, and complimentary lunch.
OCTOBER 12: Enjoy free admission science night for Long Beach families. Explore the aquarium after hours and participate in family activities led by aquarium educators.
OCTOBER 12: Meet your local firefighters from Station 24 in Mission Viejo. Check out the fire engine, learn about fire safety and play interactive games.
FRIDAY-SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15-17 & 22-24: Tour the decorated historical grounds during special park hours, enjoy Halloween-themed photo ops, find your way through the hay maze, and complete a scavenger hunt for ghoulish goodies.
THIRD WEEKEND OF EVERY MONTH: The Orange County Model Engineers offer public ride days every third weekend of each month. To ride the trains, children must be able to walk and be at least 31" tall. A typical trip takes about 12 minutes and covers two loops of the park.
OCTOBER 15: See floats, performers, bands, and entertainers, plus a costume contest. Parade begins at the corner of Norwalk Blvd. & Mapledale St. and concludes at Hermosillo Park.
OCTOBER 15: Fire Stations 71 and 75 will be open to visitors.
OCTOBER 15: Family-friendly firefighting demos, activities for kids, pictures with Sparky, met local firefighters, tour the station, fire safety tips, CPR education, and free hot dogs.
OCTOBER 15: Enjoy a hands-on plant dye workshop, discover traditional flavors, take curator-led tours, and enjoy live entertainment.
OCTOBER 15: See scarecrows displayed on the lawn, enjoy a kids costume contest, face painting, trick-or-treat stations, pumpkin decorating, music, food trucks, and more.

OCTOBER 16: Enjoy this free classical concert featuring scores from your favorite Halloween tales including Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
OCTOBER 16: Join children's author Alicia Lyons as she reads her first book, The Adventure of Super Addy and her Sidekick Wonder Dog Taffy.
Third Sundays: Family ArtMaking Workshops provide free family-oriented art-making activities. Parents and children (5+) participate together to create an art project. Workshops are free and no sign-ups are required. Stop by anytime between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
OCTOBER 17: Try out Burgess Cotillion at their Halloween-themed "Spooky Spectacular" this month, with a free class for anyone new to the program. Participants enjoy dancing, refreshments, games, prizes and manners. Your kids will have so much fun, they'll want to join for an entire season.
OCTOBER 20: Join Jack Skellington on a trick-or-treat journey through Fairhaven's Magical Doorways. Walk the half-mile route through all the holidays with displays and treats.
OCTOBER 21-23 & 28-30: This annual event includes, trick-or-treating, costume contests, pumpkin carving, kids’ carnival tent, campfire and ghost stories, games, live entertainment stage shows, haunted attractions and more.
OCTOBER 21 - NOVEMBER 11: Movies are complimentary to the community; self-seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Oct 21: Hotel Transylvania • Oct 28: Disney's Coco (plus pre-show entertainment) • Nov 4: Maleficent • Nov 11: Monsters Inc.
OCTOBER 22: Enjoy a free introductory flight! Meet your pilot, learn how airplanes work, look at aeronautical charts, explore the interior of the airplane and instrument panel, and review safety policies. Flights are 15-20 minutes and follow the basic steps in the flight pattern.
OCTOBER 22: Celebrate with a Halloween maze, games, crafts, entertainment, a costume parade and treats for children. Trunk or treat with Dana Point Police Services in the parking lot. Meet bloodhounds, bomb squad, K-9 unit, and mounted patrol.
OCTOBER 22: Honor the Native American Bear, learn about the music, dance, and traditions of the native Americans.
OCTOBER 22: A fun, safe Halloween event for families. Free admission. Wear your best costume and enter the costume contest.
OCTOBER 23: Free introductory flight! Meet your pilot, learn how airplanes work, look at aeronautical charts, explore the interior of the airplane and instrument panel, and review safety policies. Flights are 15-20 minutes and follow the basic steps in the flight pattern. Plus, go on a self-tour of Planes of Fame Air Museum.
OCTOBER 23: Live entertainment, altar exhibit, marketplace of 100+ artisans and vendors, art installations, altar contest, face painting, cultural workshops, and food trucks.
OCTOBER 23: Celebrate and honor the memories of the deceased with colorful displays, face painting, Grammy-winning Mariachi Divas, altar competitions, craft vendors, local food, and Coco screening.
OCTOBER 24: Join the city in celebrating healthy choices and being drug-free with the Red Ribbon Parade, followed by a community safety fair on the Community Center lawn in celebration of National Night Out.
OCTOBER 25 - NOVEMBER 2: The nightly celebration begins in the plaza with Novenario Procession, featuring blessings, "living muertos", and free sweet bread. Visit community altars, enjoy live entertainment, face painting, and La Danza de la Muerte, a vibrant theatrical performance that tells the story of Día de los Muertos.
OCTOBER 27: The evening will include live music, fun games, face painting, shopping vendors, food and drinks, trick-or-treating, raffle prizes, and more. Costumes encouraged.
OCTOBER 27: This free community event includes games, trick or treating with local merchants, a costume parade, entertainment, and Saber Guild light show.
OCTOBER 28: Family-friendly entertainment, including a Halloween-themed stilt walker, trick-or-treat candy stations, airbrush tattoo artists, balloon twisters, kids craft, and live DJ spinning festive Halloween music.
OCTOBER 28: Wear your costume, and trick-or-treat with some of the officers that keep your neighborhoods safe.
OCTOBER 29-30: Union Station transforms into a Halloween village, a free two-day, family-friendly extravaganza.
OCTOBER 29: See over 30 unique vintage and modern style hearses on display. Shop the Nightshade Market for Halloween and horror movie themed memorabilia. "Beyond the Gates of Turnbull" Haunted House attraction also open the same day.
OCTOBER 29-30:Tour altars or ofrendas at most of the businesses in Old Town. Enjoy face painting, food and entertainment throughout the community.
OCTOBER 29: The Anaheim Fall Festival will be 11am - 6pm on Center St. in Anaheim. Festivities include a Kiddie Costume Contest and Doggie Costume Contest.
OCTOBER 29: The Spooky Treat Trolley will be making stops at the following park locations and handing out treats for children up to 12 years of age.
OCTOBER 29: Enjoy live music, trunk-or-treat area, a haunted house, carnival games, bounce houses, costume contests, food trucks, and fun for the whole family!
OCTOBER 29: Explore aircrafts and enjoy live music, food trucks, activities for kids, and helicopter rides for purchase.
OCTOBER 29: Join fellow flesheaters for an all-day, family-friendly festival of live music, contests, makeup/FX artists, trick-or-treating, and an undead march down Rainbow Harbor.
OCTOBER 29: Come aboard Battleship IOWA for candy stations, game stations, STEM/craft stations, and Spooky Reading Corner. Plus, a movie screening of Hotel Transylvania 2.
