What is this event?
Join the Ocean Institute for a guided tidepool hike led by an expert naturalist. Families will explore a rocky Marine Protected Area located directly behind the Ocean Institute and learn about the animals that call Southern California tidepools home.
Who is this event good for?

- Is it family-friendly? Yes! Families are welcome, with adult supervision required.
What can families expect to do?
During the hike, participants may spot snails, crabs, sea stars, and other tidepool animals while learning about marine ecosystems. Winter and spring months offer some of the best conditions for tidepool exploration.

Most hikes last about 2 hours.

Admission is $18 per person.

Anything parents should know before going?

- Moderate hike with a 1–1.5 mile round-trip distance.
- Terrain is rocky, uneven, and can be slick.
- Closed-toed, closed-heeled, sturdy shoes are required.
- Sunscreen, light layers, and water are recommended.
- This hike is not recommended for children under 4 years old.
