Cast a line at the annual La Mirada Youth Fishing Derby, held at La Mirada Regional Park.
Start the morning with a free pancake breakfast (7am), then fish the stocked lake from 8am to 11am. Fishing lessons are provided by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Each young angler goes home with a souvenir shirt and photo. Awards are presented directly after fishing wraps up. Only youth are permitted to fish, but the whole family is welcome to come along.
