Sunday, May 3, 2026

Celebrate Children’s Day in Little Tokyo with a vibrant, hands-on cultural festival filled with creativity, tradition, and family fun.

With colorful koinobori (carp streamers) flying overhead, this annual event invites kids and families to explore Japanese and Japanese American traditions through interactive workshops, storytelling, games, and performances. Throughout the day, enjoy cultural activities designed for all ages along with festive entertainment and food vendors offering Japanese favorites.

A special highlight this year is the Kibō Nobori (hope flags) installation, where children can create and add their own messages of hope as part of a collaborative art experience. Families can also visit the James Irvine Japanese Garden, open for the day with optional 10-minute guided tours available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Hands-on cultural workshops & activities
  • Interactive storytelling & traditional games
  • Koinobori displays & hope flag art installation
