October 13 – November 7, 2026
Step back to the Middle Ages with a hands-on field trip for youth, adults, and active seniors.
Hear what life was like in medieval times during a docent talk, then see a suit of armor and chainmail tunic up close. Banners and shields add a castle feel to the classroom.
Create a piece of art to take home by rubbing metallic waxes over metal plates covered with special paper. The brass plates are replicas of memorials from the churches of England, 1200-1500 AD.
Event highlights:
- Docent talk on medieval history
- Suit of armor and chainmail tunic
- Hands-on brass rubbing
- English tea in the tea room
- Church tour, if requested
Groups of 10 or more are welcome by reservation. All materials are provided, and brass rubbing is $12 per person. English tea is available if reserved ($20 for youth, $30 for adults, brass rubbing included). A tour of the church may be available at no charge if requested in advance. Reservations can be made at brass.rubbing.lb@gmail.com.
