OCTOBER 13: Get in the Halloween spirit this season with hands-on art making and an up-close encounter with some creepy-crawlies. Join arachnid educator Tyler Young for a Spider Meet and Greet, create a unique Halloween mask, and decorate a papier-mâché pumpkin!

APRIL 20: Spend the morning natural dyeing with flowers collected from the grounds at The Huntington. Participants will utilize the flowers potent natural color to create vibrant prints on cotton socks and will learn the accessible, fun technique of eco-printing–creating lasting prints with plant material–and each participant will leave with their own colorfully printed pair of socks.

APRIL 15: Join Chinese brush painting instructor Peifang Liang for a hands-on workshop inspired by The Dragon Boat Festival.

JANUARY 21: Celebrate the Lunar New Year with artist Peifang Wang in this family-friendly Chinese brush painting workshop. Participants will learn about the Year of the Rabbit and other Chinese New Year traditions, while practicing their brushstrokes.

NOVEMBER 12: Learn how to dye your own bandana with pomegranate skins, make your own plant-based pigments, enjoy drop-in art activities and art cart plus lots more. All activities are first come, first served and while supplies last. Free with paid admission.

FRIDAY, JUNE 3: Inspired by The Huntington’s “Borderlands” exhibition, this family-friendly event shows how the art and culture of this multicultural history created today’s beautifully diverse community. Engage in nature activities, watch traditional dances, meet animals, and more.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2022: Enjoy a free family drop-in program filled with games and map-making inspired by the exhibition “Mapping Fiction.” Play map-based board games with friends and family, and have fun creating map prints of your own fictional universe.

NOVEMBER 13: Explore the power of portraits at The Huntington with art activities that are fun for the whole family. Experience Kehinde Wiley’s Portrait of a Young Gentleman in the Thornton Portrait Gallery, make your own self-portrait collage (while supplies last), and strike a pose at our portrait selfie station.

Celebrate the Lunar New Year at The Huntington as the Year of the Rat begins. The festivities will include lion dancers, mask-changing performances, martial arts, Chinese music and dance, painting and calligraphy demonstrations, children's activities, and more.
