Space Shuttle Inspiration Travels Through the Streets of Downey

Thursday, October 17

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2024

The Space Shuttle Inspiration is a full-scale mock-up of a space shuttle. It served as the engineering prototype for NASA’s space shuttles.

After being in storage for over 10 years, the shuttle will be traveling through the streets of Downey and moved to a temporary home, where experts will restore it for its future move to the new space center complex expansion at Columbia Memorial Space Center.

Learn more about the expansion here.

All seven large-scale compartments will be carefully transported down Bellflower Blvd. (between Steve Horn Way and Washburn Road). Come out and cheer it on Thursday, October 17, starting at 9am.
