Celebrate spring with a full day of hands-on activities, live flight demonstrations, and aviation history at Planes of Fame Air Museum. Doors open at 9am.
An egg hunt kicks off at 10am in the Tank Arena, with dozens of eggs hidden for kids to find. Young engineers can try the egg drop challenge throughout the day — designing and building a protective enclosure for an egg, then watching it get “flight-tested” from above.
Junior modeler workshops at 10:30am and 11:30am give kids the chance to assemble their own scale model aircraft with guidance from museum artisans — and take their model home. A hangar talk at 10:30am wraps up a multi-part series on the U.S. Navy’s carrier strike group, presented by the museum’s Michael Quinney.
The featured flight at 12:15pm puts two Korean War rivals in the air together — the F-86F Sabre and the MiG-15 — for a 20-minute aerial demonstration. A short presentation precedes the flight, and a pilot meet-and-greet follows landing.
Activities include:
- Egg hunt at 10am in the Tank Arena
- Egg drop challenge — all day
- Junior modeler workshops at 10:30am & 11:30am
- Hangar talk at 10:30am
- F-86F Sabre & MiG-15 flight demonstration at 12:15pm
