February 7-8, 2026
Rancho Los Cerritos opens “Seeds of Resilience: Barrio Americano,” a new exhibition centering Mexican American histories in the Long Beach region.
The exhibition examines how barrios emerged as spaces of collective care, cultural preservation, and resistance following the Mexican American War and the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. Through installations reflecting an early twentieth-century barrio, visitors encounter familiar settings including the neighborhood, the home, and places of organizing and care. The opening day celebration on Saturday includes crafts and children’s activities, tours of the historic adobe home, and coffee and pastries courtesy of The Breakfast Bar, inspired by sobremesa—the tradition of lingering together to share time and conversation.
Opening weekend highlights:
- Saturday opening celebration (3:00-6:00 PM)
- Crafts and children’s activities
- Historic adobe home tours
- Coffee and pastries by The Breakfast Bar
- Extended Sunday hours (10:00 AM-5:00 PM)
RSVP is recommended for opening weekend. The exhibition will remain on view for one year. The site will be closed to visitors on Saturday prior to 3:00 PM.
