Lights of Korea: Jinju Silk Lanterns | Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles

Thursday, January 15 - Saturday, February 28

January 15 – February 28, 2026

Experience a modern interpretation of Jinju silk lanterns, a tradition rooted in Korea’s historic sericulture region. This exhibition is inspired by the elegant twelve-panel skirt seen in Portrait of a Beauty by Shin Yun-bok, reimagining its flowing form through layered, circular lanterns. The result is a warm, immersive installation that draws on themes of grace, maternal symbolism, and the emotional power of light.

Visitors are invited to explore the translucence, color, and quiet resonance of silk as it transforms the gallery space. The exhibit is open during regular center hours, with access to the second-floor art gallery.
