LA Chinatown Firecracker Run & Festival

This long-running Lunar New Year tradition returns to Chinatown Plaza with a full weekend of run, walk, bike, and family events celebrating the Year of the Horse. The Firecracker is known as one of the largest and oldest Lunar New Year run/walk events in the country, combining fitness activities with cultural celebration.

Participants can take part in multiple race options, including 5K and 10K runs, a 1K Kiddie Run, a PAW’er Dog Walk, and 20- and 50-mile bike rides. Registered participants receive a commemorative race bib, finisher’s medal, event t-shirt, and goodie bag.

The weekend also includes a Lunar New Year opening ceremony with lion dancers and the lighting of 100,000 firecrackers, plus a two-day Firecracker Festival open to the public with live entertainment, vendors, exhibitors, and kids’ activities.

Events take place throughout the weekend with staggered start times. Festival activities are free to the public, while races and rides require registration.
