Segerstrom Center for the Arts presents Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale on the Julianne Argyros Stage as part of its Theatre for Young Audiences & Families series.
Book and lyrics by Karen Zacarías and music by Deborah Wicks La Puma bring a modern, bilingual twist to the classic fairy tale. Sweet Cenicienta speaks only Spanish, while Rosa, the self-centered basketball star, speaks only English—and both are competing for a spot in the Super Dooper Eastern Western Division Basketball Game. This salsa- and hip-hop-filled musical focuses on sportsmanship and respect, with high-energy songs and dance throughout.
