Olvera Street hosts its annual Blessing of the Animals, a free family and pet-friendly tradition that dates back to the street’s founding in 1930.
Archbishop Jose Gomez offers a blessing to animals present from 2-3pm, with the blessing line beginning at 1pm in front of the Pico House. Live entertainment runs from 12-4pm. All animals are welcome — whether they live on land, in water, or fly in trees — and participants do not need to be Catholic to take part.
What to expect:
- Blessing by Archbishop Jose Gomez (2-3pm)
- Blessing line begins at 1pm at the Pico House
- Entertainment from 12-4pm
- All pets and animals welcome
This is a FREE event. Note that trailer parking is not available. Main Street between Arcadia and Cesar Chavez will be closed from 4am – 6pm — plan travel accordingly.
