DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, March 9\, 2025 \nGirls ages 6-13 years (and a parent) are invited to Celebrate National Barbie Day at the Queen Mary. \nIt was the summer of 1956. Ruth Handler\, her husband\, Elliott\, Daughter\, Barbara and Son\, Ken\, set sail for a six-week vacation to Europe aboard the RMS Queen Mary. It was in Lucerne\, Switzerland that Ruth and her daughter spotted a toy that sparked and idea that forever changed the way little girls played with dolls. “My whole philosophy of Barbie was that\, through the doll\, a little girl could be anything she wanted to be. Barbie always represented the fact that a woman has choices.” Ruth Handler\, (Creator of the Barbie Doll). \nA transatlantic doll exhibit will be on display in the historic Britannia Salon. Activities\nwill include a photo op area\, refreshments\, friendSHIP bracelet activity\, face painting\, guest speakers\, a costume contest and plenty of time to stroll the Queen Mary. \nTickets: $30 (ages 6-12)\, $15 for adults. \n
