DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 25\, 2026 \nExplore reading\, creativity\, and hands-on learning at the Arts & Literacy Festival\, a family event designed to help young children build early learning skills through play. \nThis year’s “A Day on the Farm” theme brings storytelling\, art\, and interactive activities to life across more than 40 booths hosted by local organizations. Kids can visit stations\, complete activities\, and collect stamps on a Festival Explorer Card – then trade it in for a free book. \nEnjoy two stages of programming\, including farm-themed storytime readings by Santa Monica Public Library and live music and performances on the main stage. Additional highlights include a Kids Zone with active play\, arts and crafts stations\, and the Rediscover Center’s Pollinator Play Lab\, where kids can create puppets and explore pollinators through hands-on activities. \nFamilies can also meet Santa Monica’s Poet Laureate and explore discovery-based learning experiences designed to support school readiness. \nActivities include: \n\nStorytime stage & live performances\n40+ interactive booths\nFestival Explorer Card + free book\nPollinator Play Lab & puppet making\nKids Zone\, crafts & games\n\nAdmission is free. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic\, blankets\, and chairs to enjoy performances\, hands-on art\, and the park’s splash pad\, playground\, and ocean observation deck. \nThe day features live music\, interactive art-making\, and unique performances that reflect the city’s creative spirit. \nThe lineup includes: \n\n11:30 am. – Pacific Opera Project presents Cinderella Story\, an impossibly magical\, mash-up opera. This production is funded in part by a generous gift from Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation.\n1 pm – Masanga Marimba plays upbeat\, family-oriented music that everyone will enjoy! This unique 9-piece band plays Latin\, Pan African\, and American music on 7 Zimbabwean-style marimbas\, mbiras\, drums\, trombone\, and trumpet.\n11 am – 2 pm – Bubblemania and Company bubble party and hands-on workshop with Rediscover Center.\n\nFree and open to all ages. Runs 11am–2pm. Public transportation encouraged; parking available at Santa Monica Civic Center and nearby streets. \n
