STEM³ Academy Orange County
Do you have a child who is bright, curious, and technology driven with a social and/or learning difference?
Then STEM³ Academy (@stem3academy) may be right for your family! The LA-based STEM school, the first-of-its-kind in the U.S., is excited to be expanding into OC.
In Orange County one child in 63 has been diagnosed with autism but many public schools are not equipped with the environment needed for ASD students to thrive. Painfully aware of the continuous need for a specialized school for students with special needs, STEM³ Academy is opening its first Orange County campus in Irvine for the 2019-2020 school year. This new safe haven is the first of its kind in Orange County and will give students with social and learning challenges the opportunity to focus on and hone their STEM skills.
STEM³ Academy offers robust science, technology, engineering and mathematics courses, as well as opportunities for students to fully explore the humanities. The hub of the school is a state-of-the-art innovation lab and maker space where students are involved in diverse pursuits such as robotics, electronics, film, audio mixing, and 3D modeling and printing using a variety of high-tech equipment.
STEM³ is an initiative of The Help Group that provides STEM education and services for parents, educators, and special needs students and young adults. The following are being offered in Orange County:
- STEM³ Academy to open in Fall 2019- now enrolling for grades K-12
- Lecture series on future opportunities in STEM for young people with social and learning differences
- Very Special Innovation Fair – free, family-friendly showcase of discovery and imagination that is equal parts science fair, high-tech exhibition, art show, and community carnival
- Focus groups on unmet needs in Orange County for K-12 students with social and learning differences
