South Coast Repertory – Summer Theater Workshop for Youth and Teens
In South Coast Repertory’s Summer Acting Workshop, a fun-filled theatre camp for kids and teens (grades 3-12), youth build confidence and self-esteem. The two-week camp is designed for students new to SCR, where enthusiastic and experienced professional artists help students explore and deepen their understanding of acting.
Interactive instruction in voice, movement, character development and more, is led by SCR’s staff of theatre professionals. Special guests bring to life various aspects of theatre, such as design, improvisation, combat, singing and play-writing. Camp concludes with students sharing their work onstage in a demonstration for invited family and friends.
In SCR’s Musical Theatre Classes, open to students in grades 7-12, participants learn what it means to “act” a song and “sing” a scene.
Both the Summer Acting Workshop and the Musical Theatre Classes are offered July 13-25 and July 27 – August 8.
SCR’s Teen Improv Class is offered July 27 – August 8, 1-4 p.m.
