Orange County Children’s Theatre (OCCT)
Founded in 1969, Orange County Children’s Theatre is the oldest, continuous running children’s theatre in Orange County.
Their year-round Conservatory is open to young people (ages 5-18). OCCT is dedicated to training each child in the crafts and skills required for the theatre, while paramount importance is placed on the development of each child’s self esteem, and feeling of belonging at the theatre. Focusing on script analysis and preparation, blocking and organization, designer integration, and casting from OCCT Director, Kaitlyn Tice.
July 20-24: Playwriting/Screenwriting
Learn about the process of writing with creative prompts, revisions, and discussion on themes, motifs, and story interpretation.
July 27-31: Stage Management
Analyze and evaluate production requirements of a show and organize a prompt book.
Build Your Audition Book
July 6-10 (ages 8-12) / July 20-24 (ages 13-18)
Explore what makes a good audition song, how to find new audition songs, what songs are “over done” and why you should avoid them. Perform audition cuts for feedback and learn how to research and fill your audition book with a variety of material.
July 13-17 (ages 8-12) / July 27-31 (ages 13-18)
Explore dream roles and how to prepare for them, how to prepare callback sides, receive audition breakdown, and more.
July 6-10: Self Taping
Learn about gear and set up, framing and editing videos, slating, and what directors look for.
July 13-17: Accents
This workshop focuses on British and Southern accents. Work on intonation, rhythms, patterns of speech, regional dialects, and pronunciation.
July 20-24: College Audition Prep
Work on song and monologue selection, coaching, pre-screens, and receive guidance on school choices.
July 27-31: Improv
Work on creativity, problem solving, and performance skills through games and activities.
