Birch Aquarium

Birch Aquarium is an oceanographic museum that showcases research discoveries by Scripps Oceanography scientists at UC San Diego.

Perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Birch Aquarium features more than 60 habitats of fishes and invertebrates. Explore their two-story Giant Kelp Forest, Hall of Fishes, Sharks Shores, and get to touch small sharks, rays, sea hares, snails, anemones, urchins, and sea cucumbers in their Tide Pool Plaza.

Birch Aquarium is now home to the world’s smallest penguins! They’re the only aquarium in the Western U.S. to house these little seabirds.

Also offers summer camps, behind-the-scenes tours, and special events throughout the year.
