MARCH 11 - SEPTEMBER 12, 2021: Butterflies are taking flight at the museum! Walk among beautiful butterflies in our seasonal Butterfly Pavilion. This springtime exhibition features hundreds of butterflies, colorful native plants, and plenty of natural light to help you see these creatures shimmer.
Weekends, June 5 - September 26: Take a ride on the Museum Railway on a real operating trolley or behind a locomotive every weekend. Parking, entry to grounds, and entry to open exhibits are free (except during special ticketed events). Select trains and trolleys run every weekend for $8-12.
JULY 2 - SEPTEMBER 5: Shop unique artwork and enjoy live music, roaming entertainment, daily art demonstrations and a variety of food and drink offerings.

JULY 16 - SEPTEMBER 6: The DiscOasis is a theatrical walk-through journey of music, art, dancing, live performances, roller skating, and good times. The main attraction will be roller skating in the middle of the Garden's 87 acres.
WEEKENDS: Join the crew of the Research Vessel Sea Explorer for a Whale Watching experience. See whales, dolphins, sea lions, and more as your explore the Pacific Ocean.
SELECT WEEKENDS, JULY 31 - SEPTEMBER 12: Re-Opening Revelry, a new hour long celebration of the Bob Baker Marionettes’ favorite things. From birthday cake and picnics, to holidays and seasons, this show is bursting with a myriad of puppets.
JUNE 13 - SEPTEMBER 6: This summer, bubbles are taking over Kidspace. Bubble Planet is an all-new, all-outdoor experience with bubble-themed activities and soapy, spacey versions of your favorite Kidspace exhibits. The 3.5-acre campus will be filled with bubbles just for you and your family to pop, bounce, and splash.
TUESDAY, THURSDAY & WEEKENDS: Pick yummy summer produce; learn about and sample all sorts of melons! Everyone gets a melon to take home and a visit with the barnyard animals.
FRIDAYS - SUNDAYS, JULY 2 - AUGUST 29: Boat Cinema is LA's first movie experience from your own personal mini boat. Reserve a mini electric boat, a party boat float, or roll up in your own boat after a day on the lake.
NOW - SEPTEMBER 12: Enjoy free family-friendly community art events. No registration is needed, and all ages are welcome. Drop-in activities are available while supplies last. Visit the Great Park Gallery to see artwork from Chuck Jones and sign up for recreational classes.
JULY 11 - NOVEMBER 7: Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum presents "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in an outdoor amphitheatre within Topanga Canyon's lush and rustic natural surroundings.
THURSDAYS - SUNDAYS, JULY 8 - AUGUST 29: Cardboard City is a 10,000 square foot pop-up art center with free exhibitions of cardboard sculptures and architectural models, free family crafting activities, a schedule of classes, and a shop selling tools and materials so families can make cardboard art at home. Free and open to all visitors!
FRIDAY - SUNDAY, JUNE - AUGUST: Enjoy a stroll in the gardens at twilight on selected evenings June through August. The public is invited with pre-purchased tickets to visit the gardens 4:30-8pm, Friday through Sunday. Tickets will be released every other Tuesday at noon.
TUESDAYS & WEDNESDAYS, NOW - SEPTEMBER 8: Summer Movie Express tickets are just $1 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays featuring summer movies the whole family will enjoy.
TUESDAYS THROUGH SEPTEMBER: Enjoy the best young children’s books from diverse authors read to you in the California Native Garden. They will read stories and sing songs for your family every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Free!
TUESDAYS, AUGUST 3-31: Join a Park Ranger for a fun introduction to the ecology of Crystal Cove State Park at their weekly Junior Ranger program. This children’s nature program is a favorite in State Parks and allows visitors ages 7-12 to earn a badge.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 31: Enjoy a magic show (1-2pm), cotton candy, crafts, photo area, and balloon twister on Level 1 near Tommy Bahamas and Urban Outfitters. Bring in school supplies and/or a backpack to donate.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 14 - AUGUST 11: Pack your picnic baskets, bring your blankets, and get ready to enjoy free entertainment for all ages under the summer sky.
The El Dorado Nature Center outdoor concerts will open for picnicking at 6:30 p.m. with live music from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring low chairs or blankets and a picnic dinner.

Public Ticket Nights allow individuals (12+), rather than just groups, to experience the thrill of viewing celestial objects through large, historic telescopes, the 60 and 100 inch telescope––the two largest in the world dedicated to public viewing.
AUGUST 28-29 & SEPTEMBER 4-5: Pick sunflowers at Hana Field, Orange County's premier u-pick sunflower and flower fields. The fields will be open for only two weekends. Registration required.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4: Look for resident dolphins, migrating gray whales, and birds passing by the coastline. Join a park naturalist and learn fun facts while walking along the bluff trail and scanning the ocean at each overlook.
SATURDAYS, SEPTEMBER 4-25: Grand Park’s Easy Mornings offers a calm start to the weekend with relaxing and family-friendly activities in Grand Park on Saturday mornings this September. Each week will feature a mixture of different activities, including arts-based workshops, wellness and dance workshops, public art and live DJ entertainment.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4: Explore the Succulent Garden, Fern Grotto and Tropical Conservatory amongst many others, with an expert Docent Tour Guide. This family friendly tour lasts about one hour and is free with garden admission.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11: An outdoor family-friendly event designed to allow children to explore and interact with vehicles of all shapes and sizes. There will be fun for everyone in the family, including meet and greets with the people who build, protect, and serve Orange County, arts and crafts, and food trucks.
SEPTEMBER 11-12: The Reptile Super Show is a fun and educational environment for the reptile enthusiast in your family. See thousands of reptiles and learn about everything you need to create a healthy home habitat.
SEPTEMBER 11: Learn how to reimagine your garden space, plant the seed of an edible garden and take home a planter to get you started.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11: The Nixon Library will present 23 tons of wreckage from the World Trade Center as a symbol of national grief and resolve. The ceremony also includes a fleet of fire engines, the firefighter's "Final Alarm," formal presentation of Colors and National Anthem, and musical performances.
SEPTEMBER 11: The festival features local Long Beach Breweries, Food & Artists! This is a family-friendly event! Feel free to bring the kids, Rancho Los Cerritos will provide family-friendly activities.
