OCTOBER 1-31: During the entire month of October, kids 12 and under receive free admission with a paid adult to more than 50 of San Diego County's favorite museums, historic sites, aquariums, gardens and more. Many are even free for the whole family!
OCTOBER 4: Join the fun and get an up-close experience with trucks of all kinds on display including an aerial boom truck, crane, ambulance, fire truck, UPS truck and street sweeper truck.
OCTOBER 6-8: This annual event is free to the public. Unlimited ride wristbands, individual ride tickets, food, beer, and wine are sold separately.
OCTOBER 6: Kids and families are invited for an evening of free science activities including collecting DNA, control a robot, create exploding gummy bears, use a microscope, generate electricity, study bones, and more.
OCTOBER 7-8: Displays of gems, crystals, rocks, slabs, and fossils. Plus, children's activities, rock painting, gold panning, raffles, and more.

OCTOBER 7 : Come see a live reenactment of the Battle of Dominguez Hills. This historic event welcomes vendors, a taco truck, military encampments, activities, and, of course, a battle reenactment.

Design your own tote bag, create a video in the 360 photo booth, participate in interactive programs, enjoy face painting and magic performances, learn from STEAM activities, and more.
OCTOBER 14: Join The Wallis for an unforgettable day filled with interactive music-themed activities. Families can get up close and personal at the instrument petting zoo, craft a French horn, and create their own musical masterpiece, and enjoy live musical performances.

OCTOBER 14: Huntington Beach Fire Department will host its annual Open House featuring vehicle extrication, live fire scenarios, interactive activities for kids, photos with Sparky, fire station tours, fire safety tips, and complimentary grilled hot dogs, chips and water.
OCTOBER 14: This free, community event includes marching bands, costume contests, and parade entries. Parade begins at 11am at the corner of Norwalk Blvd. and Mapledale St. and concludes at Hermosillo Park.

THIRD WEEKEND OF EVERY MONTH: The Orange County Model Engineers offer public ride days every third weekend of each month. To ride the trains, children must be able to walk and be at least 31" tall. A typical trip takes about 12 minutes and covers two loops of the park.
OCTOBER 21: Join Pasadena Playhouse for their first ever Family Play Day featuring children's musicians, dancers, circus acts, arts and crafts stations, face painters, balloon animal artists, food trucks, and more.
OCTOBER 21: Explore aircrafts and enjoy live music, food trucks, static aircraft, and live entertainment.
OCTOBER 21: Create works of art inspired by artists Andy Warhol and Julie Mehretu. Family Weekend Workshops take place outdoors on the East-West Bank Plaza at The Broad and offer free activities and workshops to engage with the art on view in the museum.
OCTOBER 21: Family-friendly entertainment, including costumed character available for selfies, trick-or-treat candy stations, face painters, balloon twisters, kids craft, and live DJ spinning festive Halloween music.
OCTOBER 21: Visit Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary for free pumpkins (one per family while supplies last), hayride, and more. Costumes encouraged.
OCTOBER 21: This spooktacular event features trunk-or-treating, free pumpkin (one per household until supplies last), costume contest, free moon bounces, free spooky train ride, free carnival games, free calming sensory activity area, food and artisan vendors, pie eating contest (for grown-ups), and a beverage garden.
OCTOBER 22: This festival-style event will feature the popular instrument petting zoo where children can play and enjoy a symphony instrument. In addition, there will be trick-or-treating, crafts, photo booths, performances, conducting lessons, an opportunity to meet the musicians, and more. Children are encouraged to come in costume. The day will be complete with an amazing concert conducted by Maestro Eckart Preu...and thanks to the Rumba Foundation of Long Beach, KIDS GET IN FREE!
OCTOBER 22: Celebrate and honor the memories of the deceased with colorful displays, face painting, Grammy-winning Mariachi Divas, altar competitions, craft vendors, local food, and Coco screening.
OCTOBER 23: Join the city in celebrating healthy choices and being drug-free with the Red Ribbon Parade, followed by a community safety fair on the Community Center lawn in celebration of National Night Out.
OCTOBER 25 - NOVEMBER 2: The nightly celebration begins in the plaza with Novenario Procession, featuring blessings, "living muertos", and free sweet bread. Visit community altars, enjoy live entertainment, face painting, and La Danza de la Muerte, a vibrant theatrical performance that tells the story of Día de los Muertos.
OCTOBER 26: Visit the Old Towne Orange Plaza for kids activities, booths, community displays, trick-or-treating, costume parade, and the Saber Guild Light Show.
OCTOBER 26: Join Fullerton College for a free evening of music, food, activities, ofrendas, and performances.
OCTOBER 26: Trick or treat event for all ages. Enjoy a spooky maze, craft, black light bubble party, and trick or treating.
OCTOBER 26: Enjoy festivities for the whole family, live music, local artisans, and arts and crafts for kids.
OCTOBER 27: Game booths, costume contest, raffles, music, crafts, and lots of candy. Festival is held at Norwalk Park, Hermosillo Park, and Lakeside Park.
OCTOBER 28: See over 30 unique vintage and modern style hearses on display. Shop the Nightshade Market for Halloween and horror movie themed memorabilia.
OCTOBER 28: The Anaheim Fall Festival will be on Center St. in Anaheim. Festivities include a Kiddie Costume Contest and Doggie Costume Contest. Parade starts at City Hall.
OCTOBER 28: Shop from over 60 booths and vendors, enjoy face painting, food and dessert, arts and crafts, and more.
