Getting direct feedback and guidance from someone with Harriet Greenspan’s level of experience and expertise can be incredibly valuable for anyone looking to break into the industry or elevate their skills.

Here’s what you can expect:

Harriet Greenspan teaches Audition Technique. Getting ready for “the Audition” is the key to getting the role! She works on preparation and how to actually audition, covering every step needed, from the moment the actors get their audition material (sides) to the minute they walk into that audition, whether it’s in an actual casting office or self-taping for “The Audition.” Harriet helps actors best prepare for this moment, working with their intelligence, individuality, exploring within, and empowering them with the tools, techniques, and discipline they need to succeed as professional actors. Self-Tapes are considered calling cards today. Harriet works on how to make self-tapes stand out – from taping to lighting to slating! During in-person workshops, she engages the actors in fun and age-appropriate activities that relate to the audition. In terms of Preparation, through these activities, Harriet becomes more familiar with the actors, their personalities, sense of humor, energy, and skill, to give out appropriate material. Then, she begins with the steps they need to prepare, including how to make clear, strong choices that they can own, through these activities and discussions. Material is given out, and they incorporate everything learned so far in preparing their material. In some workshops, depending on the group or location of workshops, material is given out a day earlier. Either way, Harriet works on strengthening the audition. Preparation for Virtual Workshops involves Harriet spending time talking to the actors discussing the steps they should know in order to prepare for their audition, whether it’s virtual, in-person, or tape. She asks them questions that they answer to assess their knowledge and readiness so she knows how she can help each one individually. Harriet covers Audition Technique in all the ways actors should prepare and feel comfortable with the scene in an audition situation, either in the room with a Casting Director, virtually, or self-tape situations, which today are very prevalent. She focuses on character analysis within the scene, emphasizing how to find the comedy beats and incorporate who the actor is in the character they are playing. Harriet works on memorizing lines easily, how the character works within the scene, and finding a part of the actor that relates somehow to the character. She also addresses behavior in the casting arena before getting into that casting office and discusses what to do after the audition. In Self-Taping Workshops, some of Harriet’s workshops involve actors taping the scene after the workshop and sending it to her with the direction they are given during the workshop. She reviews the tapes and gives them additional notes. Harriet also spends time with the parents before or after the workshop, answering questions and enlightening them on what is covered. If there’s parent time after the workshop, the kids discuss what they’ve learned. Parents play a significant role in the career of the young actor. One new addition to Harriet’s workshops is asking all actors to email her after the workshop and tell her what they’ve learned.
