Remembering Veterans at Pretend City

DATES: Monday, November 11, 2019

Leaves are falling, the air is cooler, and autumn crops are ready for harvesting. This month, Pretend City celebrates Thanksgiving; activities will focus on gratitude and family and the importance of being thankful for the many blessings in our lives.

Saturday, November 2: Dia de los Muertos Celebration
Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday that celebrates loved ones who have passed. At Pretend City, celebrate with vibrant, educational activities for little ones. Bring a photo of your loved one to add to the special altar and partake in the celebration.

Sunday, November 3: Celebrate Put Down the Pacifier Day
Enjoy a Tooth Fairy meet and greet and activities focused on saying goodbye to the binky. Children are given the opportunity to surrender their pacifier to the Tooth Fairy as she makes her way around the museum.

Friday, November 8: Way to Play Day
This month at Way to Play Day, focus is on fine motor skills. Join their guides who will highlight how to make playtime in the museum more educational. Also, on-site free developmental screenings, eye exams, hearing screenings, and dental screenings will be offered.

Monday, November 11: Remembering Veterans  
Pretend City is recognizing Veterans with educational activities and memorable events. Little ones will learn how to show their thankfulness and celebrate those who have sacrificed for our freedom.

Wednesday, November 13: Celebrate World Kindness Day
At Pretend City, they strive to teach little ones how to develop their moral compass and character traits. For World Kindness Day, the focus is all on activities that promote the importance of kindness.

Friday, November 15: Celebrate America Recycles Day
Go Green! Pretend City is encouraging little ones to take care of Mother Earth and practice recycling at the museum as well as at home. Today, learn all about recycling with programming, activities, and games.

Wednesday, November 20: Universal Children’s Day
At Pretend City, celebrate diversity by focusing on making the world a better place. Join them as they teach little ones about accepting others and practicing peace.

Monday, November 25: Family Autism Event (5-7:30 p.m.)
Once a month, Pretend City hosts a special event for children of all ages who are on the autism spectrum. This is a fun opportunity for families and children to play and interact in an autism-friendly environment with support from staff and help from community partners who specialize in the autism spectrum.

Wednesday, November 27: Thanksgiving Celebration
Together, take a trip to Plymouth Rock and celebrating everything you are thankful for! Children will have a blast participating in turkey activities and learning the meaning of giving thanks.

Friday, November 29: Family Friday
Take a break from the Black Friday madness and unwind at Pretend City. Everyone is invited to enjoy holiday activities and games. Continue the Thanksgiving celebration by participating in some turkey-themed fun!
