Hinamatsuri aka Momo no Sekku (桃の節句)
Thursday, March 3
Momo no Sekku is a traditional Japanese event, also known as the Peach Flower Festival as well as the Doll Festival. It celebrates the healthy growth of girls. It started as a seasonal festival in Heian period in Kyoto and its origin comes from girls’ doll play.


Mardi Gras Celebration
Weekend, March 5-6
“Laissez les bons temps rouler!” is French for “Let the good times roll!” It’s one of the most popular sayings during Mardi Gras! Join Pretend City and let the good times roll! Sing, dance, and bake your way through the museum and end the day with a festive parade down our city streets!


Live Reading: “In All of Your Days Have You Seen the Ways an Animal Plays an Instrument?”

Local author, Lisa Baker, will be here to read her special story. Learn about some animals or instruments you may have never heard of. The rhymes roll off your tongue as the rhythm of the melodic words tickle your ears.

Celebrate this festive Jewish holiday including sweets, storytimes, and art activities. Purim is all about honoring the bravery of Queen Esther and her successful plan to save the Jews. The Purim story helps children learn about courage, bravery and standing up for what’s right. Your kids will be able to learn about the meaning behind Purim.

The Holi Festival is an ancient Hindu Festival of Love. Holi is also known as the Festival of Colors which is celebrated to mark the arrival of spring. Join us we venture into another cultural celebration where we will learn about the festival’s traditions through performances, art, and activities.


Spring Solstice

Spring is in the Air and Pretend City is celebrating this happy season! Join us as we learn about spring through art, storytime, and educational activities!


School Readiness Fair
Saturday, March 26

Fun-filled event designed to provide parents with all of the information they will need to assure that both they and their children are ready to successfully begin their Kindergarten experience. Free health screenings, activities, and entertainment, as well as valuable resources for parents and children! Speak with early childhood professionals, School Districts, and other organizations in the Orange County community. Free to attend. Museum ticket not needed.
