Did you know that a woman invented the circular saw? The newspaper? Celebrate women and the impact they’ve made to society.

 

Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Day)
Friday, March 3

Momo no Sekku is a traditional Japanese event, also known as the Peach Flower Festival as well as the Doll Festival. It celebrates the healthy growth of girls. It started as a seasonal festival in Heian period in Kyoto and its origin comes from girls’ doll play.

 

School Readiness Fair
Saturday, March 4

Fun-filled event designed to provide parents with all of the information they will need to assure that both they and their children are ready to successfully begin their Kindergarten experience.

Free health screenings, activities, and community partners. Speak with early childhood professionals, school districts, and other organization in the Orange County community.

Free to attend. Plus, 1 free ticket to Pretend City for each child that completes three health screenings.

 

Purim
Sunday, March 5
Celebrate this festive Jewish holiday including sweets, story times, and art activities. Purim is all about honoring the bravery of Queen Esther and her successful plan to save the Jews. The Purim story helps children learn about courage, bravery and standing up for what’s right. Your kids will be able to learn about the meaning behind Purim.

 

Holi
Wednesday, March 8
The Holi Festival is an ancient Hindu Festival of Love. Holi is also known as the Festival of Colors which is celebrated to mark the arrival of spring. Join Pretend City to venture into another cultural celebration and learn about the festival’s traditions through performances, art, and activities.

 

Solar Event / Spring Equinox

Celebrate the Spring Equinox with Pretend City through art, crafts, story time, and sensory activities.

 

Neurodivergent Family Night
Tuesday, March 14
This special evening is an opportunity for children and their parents/siblings/caretakers to enjoy The City in a sensory-friendly environment, along with other families. Community partners, who specialize in supporting the neurodiverse community, will be on-hand to enrich your family’s play experience with welcoming smiles and practical support.

 

St. Patrick’s Day
Friday, March 17
It’s the luck of the Irish! Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with storytime, art, and fun activities! And be sure to don your green outfit for our Irish heading home parade at the end of the day!

 

Persian New Year
Wednesday, March 22
Celebrate the Persian New Year! Nowruz means “New Day.” Celebrate the Persian New Year through activities, art, and story time.
