LA Phil and The Music Center Present Dia De La Familia
Performances ∙ Storytelling ∙ Kids’ Activities
Bring your family to Día de la Familia on the new Music Center Plaza, as they kick off the YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) tour to Mexico City. It’s free for all! Outside food welcome.
Enjoy performances by YOLA and Mariachi Los Camperos. Have fun with art-making workshops by creating colorful tambourines with artist Ana Miro Herrans and decorating sugar skulls with artist Maria Elena Cruz in remembrance of ancestors.
Get lost in a dramatic mix of Spanish and English traditional tales from Latin America with Storyteller and Author Olga Loya, as well as stories from her own varied and colorful life growing up in East Los Angeles. Storytelling will be presented in English and Spanish.
