Coyote Hills Nature Walk in Fullerton
Bring the family out for a Nature Walk along the trails of West Coyote Hills. In Fall, buckwheat flowers dry to a rusty brown-red. And if provided with enough early morning dew and longer cool nights, many native plants begin sprouting new growth. Many different bird species migrate south through through the hills; some stay and some continue to their wintering grounds. Can you spot the endangered California Gnatcatcher, which lives there year ’round?
On clear days the views of Orange County and local mountains are spectacular and picture-worthy. It’s a moderate 2 to 2 1/2 mile hike (with some uphill climbing) suitable for the entire family. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash. Free. Donations welcome.
Meet at the open-gate entrance to the Equestrian Center of Laguna Lake Park, on Lakeview just east of Euclid in Fullerton. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water to drink.
