Summer with Westerly – Counselor in Training – Long Beach
This program is perfect for individuals who have a passion for working with children, fostering teamwork, and creating memorable camp experiences. Participants will gain valuable skills, leadership training, and practical knowledge to prepare them for future roles as camp counselors… or even teachers!

ID Tech Camps – UCI & UCLA
Campers (ages 7-17) experience hands-on STEM activities including coding, game development, robotics, and design on a college campus.

Young Scientists’ Camp – Physical Science + Art for Girls (9th-12th Grade) – CSU Long Beach
Physical science program for girls entering 9th – 12th grades. Learn how to use physics and chemistry to create and understand art. This program aims to encourage girls to pursue the physical sciences in high school and beyond.

 

🐶 Animal-Themed Summer Camps for Teens

Ocean Institute – Dana Point

For teens interested in becoming a marine biologist, Ocean Institute offers the Marine Science Careers + Internship Academy for teens (ages 14-17). This week-long program introduces participants to intertidal ecology, animal husbandry, laboratory investigations, and shipboard research.

A Counselor-In-Training program is also offered for incoming high school freshmen to seniors. Participants work alongside summer camp counselors and assist with check-in, check-out, daily activities, and camper care.

 

spcaLA Friends for Life Summer Camp – Long Beach
Campers (ages 12-14) participate in advanced animal-related crafts and games that emphasize teamwork. They also work with shelter pets to learn dog obedience and agility training, cat socialization, and more.

 

🎨 Art & Performing Art Summer Camps for Teens

Act Out Theatre Company – Long Beach
Kids and teens (ages 7-17) can participate in workshops for acting, improv, stage combat, storytelling, costuming, creative writing, and more.

Acting Out Summer Stock & Workshops – Long Beach
Campers (ages 7-17) celebrate creativity through a series of camps developing skills in improv, musical theater, monologue work, scene study, theater games, stage combat, and more. Advanced Scene Study Workshop (ages 10+) also offered.

CSArts Academy – Santa Ana
CsArts Academy offers five-week arts camps, two-week and one-week arts intensives for kids and teens (ages 5-15). Classes include acting, animation, creative writing, musical theatre, painting and drawing, robotics, culinary arts, 3D arts, film production, and more.

Long Beach Youth Chorus – Summer Arts Institute
An immersive summer program for kids and teens (2nd-12th grades) offering experiences in choral music, plus other activities in visual and performing arts.

Musical Theatre West – Summer Youth Conservatory – Long Beach
Students (1st-12th grades) enjoy two weeks of music, dance, singing, and learning acts from Newsies, Mary Poppins, and Aladdin.

Alamitos Bay Yacht Club Summer Sailing Camp – Long Beach
Alamitos Bay Yacht Club offers a summer sailing camp for ages 8-18. Participants learn to rig their own sailboat, sail on their own, and eventually participate in a race. They also learn how weather, wind, and sailboats work.

Newport Sea Base Aquatic Day Camps – Newport Beach
Programs for teens (ages 11-17) include paddle sports, youth sailing, science and skills classes (environmental science, emergency preparedness, oceanography, woodworking), aquatics classes (fishing, snorkeling), and rowing.

Wilderness Survival Camp at Oak Canyon Nature Center – Anaheim
Teens (ages 12-15) work together to build shelters, hone their archery skills, and learn basic first aid and skills necessary to survive the desert, jungle, and swamp terrains.

 

✈️ Specialty Summer Camps for Teens

Aviation Summer Camp – Long Beach Airport
Students (ages 9-15) in Airman Camp design, build and fly model airplanes, fly simulators and R/C planes, hear from experts, and take field trips to airport resources. Flight opportunities can be added.

Merage JCC – Irvine
Leader in Training (L.I.T.) programs are offered for teens (entering 6th-11th grades). Train in child development, problem solving, program planning, CPR and First Aid. High school L.I.T.s work directly with camp staff to become a senior counselor.

Urban Workshop – Costa Mesa
STEM shop classes, where teens (ages 10-16) experience real tools and learn new skills. Activities include bicycle mechanics, electronics and soldering, silk screening, laser etching, engine repair, metal sculpture, robotics, leather working, and lots more.

Battleship IOWA Stem Adventure Camp – San Pedro
Campers (1st-8th grade) will get in-depth tours of various ship compartments and participate in fun STEM activities centered around the scientific and engineering concepts needed to successfully construct, operate, and maintain a battleship.

Kids and teens (ages 7-16) can participate in on-court games and drills, hit for prizes, training to music hour, contests, and more.

Camp Lakers – Garden Grove
Campers (ages 8-17) participate in drill stations, games, league play, playoffs and awarded skill contests.

The Rinks – All-World Hockey Camps – Various Locations
All-World Hockey Institute camps at The Rinks teach skill development, proper technique, game knowledge and sportsmanships. Camps are for kids and teens (ages 5-18) for all levels.

TGA Golf Academy – Long Beach
TGA golf camps combine expert instruction and course play, providing kids (ages 4-16) and abilities an unforgettable experience and the opportunity to develop their love of the game.

UCI Sports Camps – Irvine
UC Irvine offers sports camps for kids and teens (elementary through college). Sports include baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and water polo. Camps are open to all meeting the age/grade requirements.
