Sheep Shearing Family Fun Returns to Highland Springs Ranch!

The 11th Sheep Shearing Festival takes place March 12 through April 3 at the historic Highland Springs Ranch & Inn located in Cherry Valley, CA. It’s about a 1.5-hour drive from Los Angeles, making it the perfect mini road trip! (Kidsguide Tip: The ranch is only 20 minutes away from the iconic Cabazon dinosaurs!)

Visitors can get a close-up view of how sheep are shorn and how wool is processed.

Meet sheep shearer, Graciano Hernandez, who will demonstrate how the sheep are freed from their winter woolies. Graciano is the fourth generation shearer in his family and intends to keep the family legacy, by teaching his children his families tradition, while presenting hard work and dedication.

Participants will also be able to see what happens to the fleece once it leaves the sheep (washing, carding, dyeing, and spinning).

There will be a variety of activities including crafts, demonstrations, story telling, and more. Some activities require an additional cost.
