TASTE: Strawberry at The Ecology Center in San Juan Capistrano

SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS, NOW – MAY 23: This is designed for families to enjoy an immersive experience of art, music, flavor, and fun. Follow the strawberry’s journey as you learn, play and taste your way through three multi-sensory stations. After visiting each station, you’ll get to pick your own strawberries.

 

 

Monthly Hike to the Redwoods with OC Parks

SATURDAY, MAY 1: Join OC Parks’ trained staff on the first Saturday of the month for an easy 1.1-mile early morning hike to the park’s coastal redwood grove. You will use your five senses to engage with nature as you stroll to the redwoods. The hike begins at 8:30 a.m. from parking lot #F.

Participants should remember water, sunscreen, hat and hiking shoes. Suitable for all ages (small children may have to be carried).

Free event, $5 for parking. Rain will cancel hike.

 

 

Star Wars Weekend at Pretend City Children’s Museum

MAY 1-2: Join Pretend City for a spaced-out day of Star Wars activities as we celebrate May the Fourth Be With You! Discover the force at play in the Art Studio as guests combine science and art to create out-of-this-world designs using magnets and motion. Enjoy meet and greets from Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion. Train and use lightsaber skills in the Junior Jedi Academy. Dress in your best Star Wars outfit and receive $1 off admission.

 

 

Tallship ‘Spirit of Dana Point’ Sail with Ocean Institute

SATURDAYS: Set sail aboard the schooner Spirit of Dana Point and experience California from the perspective of an early tallship explorer. Join the crew to help raise sail, handle lines, and steer the ship, or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the majesty of sailing the seas aboard a tallship.

 

 

Antique Truck Show at Southern California Railway Museum in Perris

SATURDAY, MAY 1: See hundreds of restored, vintage trucks—from semis to pickups to delivery vehicles and farm and fire equipment – in addition to rolling locomotives and street cars. An incredible variety of antique transportation equipment will be on display for your viewing enjoyment.

 

 

Grand Reopening Cruise-In Celebration at Automobile Driving Museum

SATURDAY, MAY 1: Enjoy classic and vintage cars, musical entertainment, live pinstriping demos, vintage fashion sale, food trucks, and Hot Wheels giveaways for kids and teens, limit one per child/teen.

 

 

Mother’s Day Picnics at Mission San Juan Capistrano

SUNDAY, MAY 9: Enjoy a picnic in the Central Courtyard of Mission San Juan Capistrano. Book a picnic space and bring your own meal -OR- book through Pacific Picnic Company to create a picnic experience that includes seating, decor, and a meal.

 

 

Jurassic Trails and Tales in Laguna Niguel

MAY 14-16: Jurassic Trails and Tales steps back in time to the era of Triceratops, Brachiosaurus, Raptor, and the ever dangerous T-Rex! The cost is $40 per group with a maximum of 8 in a group, and 1 reserved parking spot per group is included. Reservations are required, drop-ins will not be permitted.

Make Believe Pop-Up at Muzeo in Anaheim

SATURDAY, MAY 15: Muzeo is welcoming guests back for a soft opening and pop-up event with the magical Museum of Make Believe! Enjoy booths with creative crafts, activities, and tasty treats. Try your hand at candle dipping, create a dragon puppet, learn Morse code on an 1800’s telegraph, have your fortune told, experience a vintage tintype photograph demonstration, plant spring flowers to take home, and dig for gemstone treasure!

Then, gather around the stage for live entertainment and stories told by local authors, shadow puppetry, magicians, and an otherworldly demonstration of a magic lantern.

 

 

Spring Carnival at Segerstrom Center for the Arts

SUNDAY, MAY 16: Watch live performances and enjoy springtime activities on the Argyros Plaza. Activities include springtime-themed cookie decorating, create your own mini herb garden, decorate and wear a pair of butterfly wings, and more!

 

 

Monarch Butterfly Garden for Kids at Sherman Library & Gardens

SATURDAY, MAY 22: Learn about the life cycle of monarchs and which plants they depend on in your garden. Pot up these special plants to take home and start observing monarchs in your own garden. With your green thumb and butterfly field guide your family will metamorphose into entomologists!

 

 

Field of Honor® at Mission San Juan Capistrano

MAY 26-31: Mission San Juan Capistrano partners with Homefront American in hosting their 2021 Field of Honor®. The display will consist of up to 400 seven-foot American flags strategically placed on the grounds of the Mission in honor of military heroes and veterans.

 

 

Outdoor Movie Screening: Fantasia at Bowers Museum

FRIDAY, MAY 28: Don’t miss this screening of Walt Disney’s masterpiece, Fantasia, featuring a stunning collection of timeless classical music and Disney’s animated interpretations of the soundtrack.

Make it a night to remember and arrive early for after-hours access to the limited-time exhibit, Inside the Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic and the Bowers Gallery Store, filled with Disney delights and treasures from around the globe.
