South Coast Botanic Garden’s GLOW Light Exhibit

NOW – JANUARY 10: South Coast Botanic Garden is proud to present GLOW, a visually stunning art installation that will transform their lush botanic oasis into an oceanic experience for their Garden Lights & Ocean Waters theme. Frontier Family Christmas – El Dorado Frontier in Long Beach

Every Saturday and Sunday, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be outside the workshop waving as you safely drive by. Make sure to bring your “Letter to Santa” to drop off and one of his cheerful elves will collect it.

U-Pick Wagon Rides with Santa – Tanaka Farms

SELECT DAYS, DECEMBER 18 – JANUARY 9: Come on out to the farm for a U-Pick Wagon Ride adventure that includes a wagon ride around the farm. You will make a few stops in the fields to pick three different types of veggies. At the end of the tour, meet Santa and take socially-distant photos!

Alpine Slide and Snow Play in Big Bear Lake

NOVEMBER – EASTER: Enjoy tubing and snow play, plus take a chairlift ride to the top of the Alpine Slide. OPENS December 18: Woolly’s Tube Park is all-time fun for all ages with a large snow play area and a heated deck with snack bar offering hot cocoa and adult beverages. The snow play area is packed with big fun for even the littlest ones. Start with a snowman, shred on a surf sled and top it off with a tube ride on Woolly’s Merry-Go-Round.

CANCELED/CLOSED (as of 12/7/20): Join Mission San Juan Capistrano for a nightly tree lighting in the Ruins of the Great Stone Church. Enjoy the Mission in lights, make a wish, and sing along to the cheerful songs of the 30-foot Christmas tree. $5.

NOVEMBER 19-29: Projected on the windows of The Wallis, Visions in Light is a free drive-by art exhibit featuring over 40 established and emerging artists of diverse cultures portraying work meant to inspire joy, wonder and awareness.

SATURDAYS, NOVEMBER 28 – DECEMBER 19: Children and families are invited to join the holiday fun by taking part in a variety of festive activities — including music, shopping, and story time with Mrs. Claus. She’ll read a seasonal children’s book near the West entrance. One lucky attendee who RSVPs in advance will be entered to win a personalized copy of that day’s featured storybook, with a note written by Mrs. Claus herself!

Kids Cooking Class Events – Lil’ Chef School in Irvine

DECEMBER 4, 6, and 13: Make a Gingerbread House as a family, decorate sugar cookies, and bake a Yule Log cake from scratch. Kids will learn how to read a recipe, measure ingredients, and work together to make a special dish!

Long Beach Trolley Waterfront Tour of Lights

DECEMBER 5-30: Board a classic cable-car trolley for a waterfront tour that will showcase the best light displays around. The tour includes the famous floating Christmas trees of Alamitos Bay, and beautiful Naples Island! $20-30.

Menorah Lighting Display – Fashion Island in Newport Beach

DECEMBER 10-18: Celebrate Hanukkah with a daily lighting of the menorah. The menorah will be located in the Atrium Garden Courtyard, near Dick’s Sporting Goods and Wahoo’s Fish Taco.

Weekend Wonderland – Ocean Institute in Dana Point

WEEKENDS, DECEMBER 12-27: Join in the Reindeer Games Lab to race reindeer and squid, learn about and make your own snow in The More You Snow Lab, build a miniature sand snowman in CA White Christmas Lab, and build your own holiday cards and chromatography ornaments in the Workshop. $15.
