Who says libraries have to be a dusty, quiet place full of grown-ups?! Nope. Not these libraries. We found 5 awesome libraries that feature the coolest things that’ll have your kids wanting to come back!


5. Los Angeles Public Library

This architectural gem located in downtown Los Angeles has an amazing Children’s Literature Department. This kid-friendly library is decorated with rich wood and colorful murals that take you back through California’s history.

4. Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library

Before entering this quaint, neighborhood library, take a stroll through the community garden! This library has a lively, colorful children’s space, but one of the coolest rooms is The Studio.  The library’s studio features 3D printers and scanners, 3Doodler, Silhouette machines, iPads, iMac and PC desktop/laptop computers equipped with Adobe Creative Suite.

As one of the largest libraries in the OC, the Huntington Beach Central Library features an indoor garden, fountains, and huge floor-to-ceiling windows with relaxing views of surrounding nature. Step under the larger-than-life stack of books to enter one of the coolest kids’ section of any library! Kids will be mesmerized by the giant, wall-sized saltwater aquarium and awed by the T-Rex fossil replica. Curl up with a book under the canopy of the trees or in the lighthouse. This library is certainly one you have to visit with the kids.
