Looking for things to do with the family? Kidsguide’s calendar has events listed for every day of the week. But, we rounded up some of the coolest ongoing events happening now, no matter what day of the week!

Magic Monday at the Santa Monica Playhouse
Mondays: Experience the thrill of magic and spellbinding illusions with a rotating cast of Master Magicians and Variety Acts. All ages are invited to witness the greatest in prestidigitation and the latest mind-blowing illusions in an intimate setting with a line-up of renowned magicians. Groundbreaking variety acts such as juggling, marionettes, ventriloquism, exotic balloon art and more will be featured as well. $40. Stage show, 8 p.m. Courtyard pre-show, 7:30 p.m. Reservations required.


Kids’ Club at Bella Terra
Mondays: Kids can take a break from shopping and join in a morning of craft tables, princesses, super heroes, music, petting zoos and more in the Bella Terra Amphitheater! Monday, 10:30 a.m. Free. Call or check website for theme.

Surf City Nights in Huntington Beach
Tuesdays: This special street fair takes place along a closed-off section of Main Street and the Strand on 5th Street, featuring a farmer’s market, bounce house, street performers, restaurant samplings, sidewalk sales and specials from local restaurants. Tuesday, 5-9 p.m.


Curiosity Carts at San Juan Capistrano Mission
Tuesday and Thursday: Each educational cart offers learning for students and visitors interested in seeing items up close. Items include branding irons, spurs, horseshoes, hides, candles, pottery shards and objects used by the Acjachemen Native Americans. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. – noon. Free with admission.


Tuesday Tween Yoga in the Gardens
July 10 – August 28: Tweens (8-14) are invited to enjoy yoga in the Gardens, a blend of mind and body practices that will support kids in a myriad of ways. These include: detox from screen time by spending time in nature; develop body awareness, flexibility and strength; connect with and trust their unique inner wisdom; increase concentration, relaxation and calmness. This class is designed to help your child navigate the realities of life with increased self-awareness, compassion and a deeper connection to the world within and around them. Open Studio Maker Session in Santa Ana
Wednesday: During the summer, Child Creativity Lab for Creative Reuse Open Studio Maker Sessions are held every Wednesday. Kids have access to makerspace materials, supplies, and workshop space. Open Studio is not an instructor-led workshop; kids take on one of the proposed projects of the day or they can create at will. Wednesday, 2-4 p.m. $6. RSVP required, email with child’s name and age.


Ninja Training at My Gym in Long Beach
Wednesdays: Head over to My Gym in Long Beach for some ninja training! A fun, non-challenging and safe environment to develop strength, stamina and agility. Take your skills to the obstacle courses that change every week and tackle adversity inside and outside the gym. Wednesdays, 4:15 p.m. Designed for kids aged 5-9. Weekly Tea Time at Dream Come True Party Room
Most Wednesdays: Tea time includes dress-up play from the castle wardrobe, pastries, tea or juice in fancy teacups, plus etiquette and storytelling. 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. $15 per child; reservations required. Offered most Wednesdays, contact to confirm.

Cool Summer Nights at Shipley Nature Center
Thursdays, July 19 – August 9: Shipley Nature Center stays open late, with a line-up of fun evening presentations for the whole family (see schedule below). Thursdays, 6-8 p.m., except August 9, 5 p.m. Free.

July 26: Inside the Outdoors
August 2: Fun with Photos, Walking Tour, Scavenger Hunt
August 9: Southern California Dulcimer Heritage; Orange County Astronomers (5-8 p.m.)


Kids’ Activities at the Downtown Fullerton Market
Thursdays: The Fullerton Market is the place to come and enjoy fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, handcrafted artisan products, live music and entertainment, plus crafts and activities at the Kids’ Korner and food vendors. Thursday, 4-8:30 p.m. Free admission; $1-4 per activity.


Sizzling Summer Nights at The Autry
Thursdays, July 5 – August 16: This all-ages outdoor dance party features the best salsa and Latin fusion bands in Los Angeles, plus free dance lessons, hot-off-the-grill food, ice-cold drinks, access to the museum galleries, a separate children’s dance floor and more. Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. $6-12. Free for members.

Family Friday Nights at Splash! Buccaneer Bay Waterpark in La Mirada
June 22 – August 10: Splash! Buccaneer Bay Waterpark welcomes you to Family Friday Nights, 3-8 p.m. for just $16.95 per person, or free to season pass holders.


Academic Chess Friday Knights
Fridays: This fun tournament is open to all K-8th graders and includes three hours of chess, pizza and juice, plus trophies for the top four players in each age group! Parents are welcome to watch or drop off. Fridays, 5:30-8:30 p.m. $20. Academic Chess Center.

Kids Fairy Garden Class in Orange
First and Third Saturdays: Bring your child and their friends to The Dragonfly Hollow to create an enchanting miniature garden with the help of fairies. Kids walk away with a cute potted fairy garden filled with plants and fairy garden accessories. Saturday, 9-10 a.m. $25, preregistration required. The Dragonfly Shops and Gardens.


Orange Farmers Market Kids’ Club
Third Saturdays: Kids can stop by a special activity zone to learn about good health and seasonal fruits and vegetables through fun scavenger hunts, plant art, health snack-making and more at the Orange Home Grown Farmers & Artisans Market. Every Saturday kids can watch cooking demos, and borrow free kids’ carts to push on their shopping trip through the market. Saturday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Free. Old Towne Orange.


Technology Saturdays at Sam Ash Music Stores
Saturday: Join a free class every Saturday morning. Classes include Digital Recording 101 for setting up and creating tracks, plus editing and mixing; EDM Class for creating, recording and mixing electronic dance music; and Digital DJ Class for people interested in DJing. Free Kids’ Fishing Clinic in Dana Point
Sundays: Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching offers a dockside experience for young fisherman. Learn fishing techniques and new hook tying secrets and win raffle prizes. Try out your new techniques on the half-day trip departing immediately after the clinic. No reservations are needed. Sundays, noon – 12:30 p.m.; kids fish free, 12:45-5:15 p.m., with adult ticket ($46).


Antique Aircraft Display Days in Fullerton
Second Sundays: Visitors are invited to view the display of classic aircraft at the Fullerton Municipal Airport. Second Sundays, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Free. Fullerton Airport.


Gentle Barn Open to the Public in Santa Clarita
Sundays: Make the drive to Gentle Barn for a presentation and tour. See how the barn was started and what a regular day is for them. Then head off for a tour and meet some animals that were saved. Sundays, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Adults, $20; kids, $10 (donation to the sanctuary). Tickets must be purchased in advance online. Season Passes include line-skipping, free water and popcorn can be purchased online.


Kids’ Art Studio in Laguna Beach
Third Sundays: Kids Art Studio is a hands-on art-making program offered by Laguna Art Museum on a drop-in basis on the third Sunday of every month. Kids (all ages) and their families create a piece of art, inspired by one of the current exhibits on view in the museum. Art projects are designed for all ages. Materials are provided. 2-4 p.m. Free.

Friday-Sunday, July 6 – August 26: Join the Long Beach Transit this summer as they head to some of the best museums around. Daily, times vary. Reservations required, reserve tickets online, trips fill up quickly. $12-15. Friday – Sunday, visit the website for destinations, pick-up locations and times. Dig It! Archaeology Adventures at the Skirball
Weekends: In a hands-on, simulated dig, kids experience the ancient Near East, learning methods for excavating a site and the importance of preserving archaeological artifacts. Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (last entry at 4:30p.m.), weather permitting. Included with Museum admission; no reservations.


Tom’s Farms
Weekends: Families stroll the craft fair, take in a train or carousel ride and listen to music. Kids drive a kid-sized tractor, operate a construction scoop, pan for gold, ride a pony, visit the petting zoo and see a magic show. Sweets shop and three restaurants also on the farm. Weekends: gates open at 7 a.m.; amusement area, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.


Weekend Kayak Tours in the Upper Newport Bay
Weekends: The Newport Bay Conservancy offers a two-hour guided kayak tour of the Back Bay. They are great for both novices and experienced paddlers alike ages 7 and up. Begin with a quick lesson on how to paddle and then paddle into the Ecological Reserve. Make several stops where you’ll discuss various aspects of the ecology and wildlife. Each tour is unique with startling differences in the birds and other wildlife seen depending on the season and the state of the tide. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. $25 per person (8+); reservations are required. Bring sun protection and prepare to get wet. Newport Aquatics Center.


Free Historical Walking Tour at Santa Monica Pier
Weekends: Join an hour-long tour that features fascinating stories about how the pier has changed over 100 years, the apartments over the Merry Go-Round, hidden nooks and crannies, the original Muscle Beach, and celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin. Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. and noon. Free. Meet at the Pier Shop in the historical carousel building.
