Summer’s almost coming to an end and for some kiddos… school is already starting! But if you’ve still got a few weeks before the kids start school, an awesome camp might be the perfect way to top off the summer!
Tip #1: If you’re interested in any of these camps, make sure to give them a call to confirm they haven’t sold out.

August 13-17: Free to Be Me / Future Leaders Camp
A week of self-esteem workshops, team building games and exercises, and leadership skills training. A fun week for kids to learn about themselves and others in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students of all ages will have the opportunity to lead some fun brain buster activities. The focus will also be on SERVICE and together, they will explore ways that kids of all ages can contribute to their community. End the week practicing new skills to break into a “breakout box.” (This is a huge crowd-pleaser for the kids). Ages 5 and up.

Minecraft Flix: You love Minecraft! Let your imagination be your guide as you turn the popular video game into an exciting Minecraft world. Using stop-motion animation you will bring Steve, the creepers, animals and more to life. Students will write, storyboard, shoot and add voice-over in age-appropriate groups. *Flix downloadable within a month after camp ends.
Animation Flix: In this fast paced camp, students will create up to 5 stop-motion animated flix! Each day you’ll use a new style of stop-motion, combining the favorites of past years with some completely new styles, making this camp new each year for everyone to enjoy! It’s the ultimate arts and crafts camp where campers create, direct, and film their movies in age-appropriate groups. *All flix downloadable within a month after camp ends.

August 20-24: Cartoon Clay (ages 7+)
In this hands-on studio workshop, students are taught using a step-by-step process from inception to the finished piece. Students learn to sculpt and paint some of their favorite cartoon characters, as well as learn how to make the 3-dimensional houses they live in together. Students will get excited to see their characters come to life while learning basic sculpting methods. Multiple materials and techniques are introduced in this workshop to inspire interest and creativity.
August 27-31: Storybook (ages 4-6)
Calling all little artists! This multimedia workshop is especially designed to meet you child’s early developmental needs. Students will use various media to draw, paint and sculpt their favorite characters from books, while singing songs, playing games, and having oodles of fun every step of the way!
August 23-24: Improv & Theater Skills Workshop
Join Acting Out Theater Camp for a special Improv and Theater Skills Workshop! Play around with improvisation, props, auditioning, readers’ theater, and more! If you’re interested in introducing the fun of improv to your child (ages 7-13), give Acting Out Theater Camp a call! Children do not have to be strong readers to participate. There will be parts in the play that will be improvised, of course!

Bounce Sports Camp is a multi-sport weekly camp designed to promote overall youth fitness to kids ages 4-13. They teach sportsmanship through teamwork, instill confidence, refine motor skills and teach appreciation of sports and fitness while promoting a fun environment. Students will gain some education in fitness and health while participating in a variety of sports, including tennis, basketball and volleyball.
Go to Nickel Nickel Arcade, see, touch, and hold reptiles like snakes, geckos, and turtle, go roller skating, then participate in the Camp Variety Show and go bowling!
Take a trip to GlowZone for mini golf, ninja course, bumper cars, and more! Make sponge armor and toys for a Nerf War then zip-line across the field in a bouncer!
Campers take over and vote for the trips and activities happening this week!

The YMCA of Orange County is proud to offer several amazing camps where any and every child can build confidence and make new friends in a safe and nurturing environment.
Summer Day Camps are available during the school break and offered at more than 40 schools across Orange County. Specialty Camps at their Health & Fitness Centers offer sports, arts, science fun and more on a weekly basis.
Through August 24: Surf Camp in Huntington Beach
There’s no better time to introduce youngsters to the sport of surfing. Their program offers professional instruction utilizing a combination of verbal, visual, and hands-on training methods. Lessons focus on safely maneuvering through the ocean, rip currents, proper standing and paddling techniques, timing, catching, and ultimately surfing the waves. Students learn ocean safety, team building, and the real fundamentals of surfing in a fun, educational, group setting.
Through August 31: Adventure Camp in Huntington Beach
With an emphasis on surfing, Corky Carroll’s Huntington Beach Adventure Camp is the perfect program for kids that want to surf but are still getting their feet wet! It’s crucial for children to feel comfortable and safe when learning to surf. They apply the same teaching system used in their Surf Camp but modify it as a fun learning experience geared towards younger kids.
Through August 24: Adventure Camp in Crystal Cove
This is a fantastic outdoor program that teaches youngsters about marine conservation, ocean safety, and preparation for the Junior Lifeguards. Instructors will help kids build their confidence and comfort level in and around the ocean through a combination of fun educational beach and water activities.

The Swing & Splash junior camp is designed for beginners to intermediate level students who want an educational learning experience in an enjoyable environment. The tennis camp introduces the fundamentals of the game and incorporate these skills into fun and exciting games, drills, and contests. It is a tennis camp but also allows for the Swing & Splashers to jump in the pool for “free swim” the last hour of each day (full day campers only).

The mission at the Alpert Jewish Community Center is to provide all children with a safe, nurturing place to discover dreams, find hidden talents, develop new skills, and become more independent. Girls interested in an all-girl camp experience combining fun, learning and leadership are invited to enroll in the Girl Scout Summer Camp Program. Open to all girls in grades K-12, (including non-Girl Scout members). Day camps and overnight camps activities include archery, kayaking, hiking, nature exploration, arts and crafts, zip lining, hands-on STEM projects, rock-wall climbing, theater and dance, cultural events and more.

Get ready to tackle exciting projects as we take an in-depth look at the diverse habitats that make the Nature Center unique.

Through August 24: Belmont Junior Beach Camp (ages 5-7)
Campers enjoy games, crafts, beach play, songs, American Red Cross swimming lessons and excursions. Canoeing and sailing is conducted once each week at Leeway Sailing Center.
Through August 24: Bayshore Beach Camp (ages 8-12)
The camp includes sailing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, crafts, excursions and features environmental activities. A 45-minute Marine Biology lesson is conducted twice each week.

Whether you are just learning or ready to learn advanced tricks, this camp is right for you! Kids (5-13) make new friends, advance their skateboarding skills, and most importantly, have fun at Skatedogs’ school-break skateboarding camps offered in conjunction with recreation departments. Get ready for a “Gymcredible Summer” at New Hope Gymnastics! Their summer camps are ideal for: beginner gymnasts, current students wanting to level up and athletes interested in competing – all gymnasts who want gold-medal skills! Participants will be taught gymnastics essentials taught by USAG-Professional New Hope TEAM Coaches who will help the gymnasts (5-16) focus on improving fundamentals; gaining strength, balance and flexibility; improve existing abilities and learning new skills.

Go from Zero to Zorro! Vacation-break camps will teach your child the sport of fencing. In the popular Go Medieval camp, kids learn archery, fencing and build a working catapult. Camps offer the chance to have fun, meet new friends, learn new skills and build confidence.
