What do surface tension and geometric principles have to do with bubbles?
A lot, it turns out. Bubble over with mirth, when the science and math behind buoyant properties of bubbles are explained in Bubblefest XIV at the Discovery Science Center.
One of Orange County’s favorite events, it explores the practical and fantastical science of what makes bubbles bob, pop and float at bubble learning stations, where guests can test their bubble-making prowess, conduct their own experiments and learn how to touch the inside of a bubble.
The two-week engagement is also an opportunity to meet Guinness Book World Record Holder and Bubble Scientist, Fan Yang. Stick around for his “Mega Bubble Show,” where he artfully manipulates bubbles of all sizes to spin and bounce, shape them into bubble carousels and house bubbles within bubbles.
