Get those feet and hearts pumping at an annual run for families, fitness buffs, fun-lovers and advocates

Join thousands of families on a cool, crisp Saturday this month to run, walk, roll, swim and skate for two great causes – the USA Water Polo National Aquatic Center and the Cancer Support Foundation – at the annual Race at the Base hosted at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base.

A flat course awaits those itching to see their best. Little ones can also take their piece of the mile with Mission: Kids Run. Grownups, meanwhile, can try their stamina with the 5K and 10 K runs; walking a 5K for the Cancer Support Foundation; use inline skates or wheelchair for the 10K; or run, bike and swim the Reverse Triathlon. Not sure if you’re ready? Learn tricks and tips on Feb. 20, at a FREE pre-triathlon clinic offered 10-11:30 a.m. at the USA Water Polo Training Center located inside the base.

The view won’t be bad, either – the runway course will feature helicopters, planes and other military vehicles families are invited to check out. There’s also plenty to do, from the always-fun Kids Fun Zone, the excellent Vendor Expo, live musical entertainment, and a $5 all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast.
