You wouldn’t guess what these botanical gardens have for kids! We’re talking kid-sized doors, rainbow tunnels, magical competitions and more! Enjoy some quality family time walking through nature and learning about plants. We rounded up five amazing SoCal botanical gardens that have special features just for kids!

South Coast Botanic Garden

The South Coast Botanic Garden spans 87 acres of blooming trees, shrubs, and flowers all year. The garden features a Children’s Discovery Garden and also hosts enchanting birthday parties. There’s even a huge, magical competition right now between fairies and trolls!

Children’s Garden and Children’s Discovery Garden
The most popular among young people, this garden is developed around nursery rhymes with plants to match the stories. An enchanted dollhouse and bridge enhance the setting. Adjacent to the Children’s Garden is the Discovery Garden with a secret tunnel, worm bin, alphabet garden, butterfly garden, and whimsical characters.

Are you Team Fairies or Team Trolls?

The fairies and trolls are going head to head in a battle of wits! Kids get to choose if they are for Team Fairies or Team Trolls and head out to solve riddles to win for their team. It’s extra cute because participants are encouraged to wear their best fairy or troll outfit. Don’t miss out on this, the competition ends on August 31. All ages welcome!

Children’s Birthday Parties in the Garden
They also offer children’s birthday parties in the garden where you could choose from these cool themes: Alice in Wonderland Tea Party, Construction Site, Flower Fairies, Ice Princess, Island Princess, Knights, Lego, Mermaids, Pirates Boot Camp, Superhero Training Course, and more!

South Coast Botanic Garden sure knows how to make a day at the garden fun! Check out their Family & Kids Event calendar for even more good stuff.
