March 17 – September 2: Get up close to beautiful butterflies at the Butterfly Pavilion. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLA) features more flight space, more resting spots, and more natural light. There will be hundreds of free-flying butterflies inside and Gallery Interpreters who can explain why they are so special.
March 16-17: Join the Aquarium of the Pacific’s annual International Children’s Day festival, celebrating the amazing talents of children of all cultures.
March 17: Walk for the Kids’ Speech and Language Development Center. In addition to the walk, attendees can enjoy a resource fair and kid’s zone featuring games, arts and crafts, face painting, and a scavenger hunt with prizes.
March 17: The Spirit Run offers 16 races for kids and adults scheduled throughout the day, ranging in distance from a Toddler Trot to a 10K.
March 16 – April 30: Adopt a caterpillar in the Busy Bee Learning Store to experience the magic of metamorphosis.
Saturday and Sunday: Try your luck at finding the gold in the custom-designed Mission trough. They’ll supply the pan and the “gold;” kids roll up their sleeves and pan their way to riches.

March 17: Each year, the Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce hosts the Sierra Madre Wistaria Festival, with tours of the Guinness Book certified World’s Largest Blossoming Plant, 200+ arts, crafts and vendor booths, and live music at several outdoor venues.
Third Sundays: Family ArtMaking Workshops provide free, family-oriented art-making activities on the museum’s lawn with a view of the ocean. Parents and children participate together to create an art project. Workshops are inspired by the current exhibitions and include hands-on art-making projects.

Sundays: Kids (8+) can spend the day at Fashion Camp learning to sew! Campers will complete a project of their choice in one day – perfect for the beginner or returning student!
March 3, 9, and 17: Kids (9-15) who are interested in participating in the summer program are required to try out with a swim test. There are four age divsions.
March 17: This annual special event will feature Trevor Hollenback, the sheep shearer, who will demonstrate how the sheep are freed from their warm winter woolies at 123 Farm.
March 16-17: Join us for a two-day festival as we celebrate L.A.’s wild side! There’s a surprising amount of nature in Los Angeles, and the more you know how to look for it, the more you’ll see.

Sundays: Make the drive to Gentle Barn for a presentation and tour. See how the barn was started and what a regular day is for them. Then head off for a tour and meet some animals that were saved.
March 2, 9-10, 16-17, 23-24: Join Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary in celebrating their 90th anniversary with family-based scavenger hunts, stories, crafts, bird observations, and hikes.

January 26 – April 28: This new family exhibit will get you revved up with immersive activities for three generations of Hot Wheels fans. There’s something for mom, dad, grandparents and of course today’s youngest Hot Wheels fans as visitors learn about the science, technology, engineering, and math that goes into making cars go faster.

March 2-17: The Old Man and the Old Moon. Who keeps the moon shining bright? The Old Man charged with that task embarks on an epic adventure of land, sea and sky in search of his missing wife in this swirling tale of love, accompanied by a live, indie-folk band.
Through April 21: Pompeii: Over 150 authentic artifacts on loan from the renowned Naples National Archaeological Museum in Italy. These are not replicas, but rather original, 2,000-year-old objects that were preserved in the ash after the catastrophic eruption.

March 17: Sign up for the annual Village Runner St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run/Community Walk. There will be chip timing, age division awards and cash prizes to the top three overall male and female runners in the 5k run. All kids in the Little Leprechaun Dash for Gold finishers receive medals too!
