January 5, 6, 19, and 21: Take the family for a docent-led tidepool walk and see what how many different creatures you can find.

November 1 – January 15: Downtown Santa Monica brings a little ice to the beachside community with ICE.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade

Janaury 21: In recognition and celebartion of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., join (or watch) the parade.

Target Free Holiday Mondays at LACMA

January 21: Visitors of all ages are invited to a free day at the museum, with bilingual tours and live music from Dream Phases at 12:30 and 2:45 p.m. Monday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Free Entrance to All National Parks

January 21: All national parks across the country will waive entrance fees in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Kids’ Club at Bella Terra

Mondays: Kids can take a break from shopping and join in a morning of craft tables, princesses, super heroes, music, petting zoos and more in the Bella Terra Amphitheater! Monday, 10:30 a.m. Free.

Honor MLK Day at Pretend City in Irvine

January 21: In honor of the gifts this American Civil Rights hero gave the nation, Pretend City teaches that every child is unique, and that no matter how different their friend may look from them, evech person should be treated fairly.

Orange County Parks Daily Activities

Daily: A monthly calendar of family-friendly hikes, walks, tours and more at parks in the Orange County Parks system.

Paper Bag Art at Kidspace

Entire Month of January: Bring your imagination and join Kidspace in the Storyteller Studio where everyone has a story to tell. What can a paper bag become? Masks, costumes, and puppets and more!

Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Kidspace

January 19-21: Join Kidspace to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through service to the community. Partner Project Giving Kids will be onsite each morning with service projects for you and your family to participate in.

MLK Jr. Mini Camp at Lil’ Chef School

January 21: Join Lil Chef School for a southern feast! Lil Chefs (ages 5 and up) will learn knife skills, how to follow and complete a recipe, and how to properly measure wet and dry ingredients.

Los Angeles Libraries Daily Story Times and Events

Daily: A monthly calendar of story times, crafts, homework help and family-friendly events at libraries in the Los Angeles library system.

Pompeii: The Exhibition at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum

Through April 21: Pompeii: Over 150 authentic artifacts on loan from the renowned Naples National Archaeological Museum in Italy. These are not replicas, but rather original, 2,000-year-old objects that were preserved in the ash after the catastrophic eruption.

Oceans 3D: Our Blue Planet in LA

Through January 31: Go further into the ocean’s depths than ever before. Travel beneath the surface in this 3D oceanic adventure, narrated by Kate Winslet.

January at Pretend City in Irvine

January 1-31: It’s getting cold in the Art Studio as children explore the different colors, textures, and temperature of winter. Build a snowman, design a pair of winter mittens, and color some ice. Enjoy lots of snowrrific activities during these winter-themed weeks.

Family Fun Night with Lil’ Chefs in Irvine

January 19: Work as a family (age 5+) to complete 2-3 recipes and enjoy eating what you make at the end of class. Their chef-instructors make cooking fun!
