Vans US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach

July 28 – August 5: Top amateur and professional surfers compete for honors in the largest surf competition in North America.

Surf City Nights in Huntington Beach

Tuesdays: This special street fair takes place along a closed-off section of Main Street and includes a farmer’s market, bounce house, street performers and more.

Sigler Park Splash Pad

Weekends, May 26 – June 17 and daily, June 23 – September 3: Splash Pad water features include ten-foot-tall pelicans, palm trees and sea horses.

Summer Safari at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park

June 23 – August 12: Summer Safari at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park is a family-friendly, summertime festival that celebrates Asia with music, dancing, drumming and acrobatics!

Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach

June 29 – September 2: Kids can take a spin at the potter’s wheel, see a glass-blowing demonstration, or take a seat in the Children’s Art Spot (4+) or Studio One (7+) to try painting, printmaking, collages and other types of art.

Summer Reading Programs

June 1 – August 15: Many libraries offer homework help, including academic workshops and story times. Plus, join the Summer Reading Program, June 1 – August 15. Young readers (kids and teens) at most Los Angeles County and Orange County libraries will enjoy a “Build a Better World” theme.

Summer Crafts for Kids at Mission San Juan Capistrano

June 25 – August 17: Kids (6-12) can drop in weekdays for a variety of crafts.

Annual Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts

July 5 – September 1: For over 80 years, this famous festival has featured multimedia art exhibits, demonstrations, workshops for adults and kids, art tours, live music and food for sale.

Dolby Theatre Guided Tours

Daily: See an Oscar statuette, visit the Dolby Lounge and other celebrity hot-spots, and see images from previous Academy Awards ceremonies.

Regal’s Summer Movie Express

Tuesdays and Wednesdays, June 19 – August 15: This 9-week festival offers G and PG-rated movies for only $1 starting at 10 a.m. Check with individual theaters for titles.

Pottery Barn Book Club

Tuesdays: Kids of all ages are invited to join Pottery Barns story time. Become a member and receive a Book Club Passport at the first story time visit and a special gift after atending five story times.

U-Pick Melon Tours at Tanaka Farms
