Spider Pavilion at the Natural History Museum

September 17 – November 26: Hundreds of spiders are on view in the pavilion, along with scorpions and tarantulas in terrariums just outside.

Pumpkin Patch at Irvine Park Railroad

September 16 – October 31: Pick the perfect pumpkin, ride the train or the ponies, jump around on haystacks or bounce house, wander through the hay maze or the haunted house, get your face painted, pan for gold or just play games and make crafts

Boo at the Los Angeles Zoo

October 7-31: The Los Angeles Zoo offers families and Halloween lovers a range of seasonal activities and learning opportunities at Boo at the L.A. Zoo.

Kids’ Free Month at San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park

October 1-31: Throughout the month of October, children 11 years old and younger receive free admission.

Haunted Fullerton Walking Tours

September 27 – November 2: Reccomended for teens (and adults) ages 13 and up. While most people enjoy a good ghostly yarn, the real draw of the tours is that participants learn about Fullerton’s colorful history.

Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain

Fridays – Sundays, September 16 – October 31: Halloween-themed “Fright Fest” runs with low-scare areas for younger kids.

Dolby Theatre Guided Tours

Daily: See an Oscar statuette, visit the Dolby Lounge and other celebrity hot-spots, and see images from previous Academy Awards ceremonies.

Apple Season in Oak Glen

Through November 26: Working apple orchards in Oak Glen, a mountain town halfway between Riverside and Palm Springs, open their doors to the public. Some offer U-pick apples.

Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch in Irvine

Through October 31: Pick your own pumpkin right off the vine, take a wagon ride ($5) around the 30-acre farm, and visit the corn maze and petting zoo ($3).

Pumpkinpalooza at ZOOMARS

October 1-31: Pick pumpkins at Spookley’s Pumpkin Patch! Pet Zoomar’s collection of animals, ride ponies, hop on the mini train, pan for gemstones and more!

Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park

September 21 – October 31: Scary Farm (13+) features 13 haunted attractions, live shows, multiple scare zones, and over a thousand costumed monsters roaming the park.

The Nightmare Before Christmas 4D in Hollywood

October 20-31: The beloved stop-motion animated film tells the story of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, who stumbles across neighboring Christmas Town and sets out to fill Santa’s big shoes. Watch in spine-tingling 4-D.

Thursdays, April 6 – November 7: The Fullerton Market is the place to come and enjoy fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, handcrafted artisan products, live music and entertainment, plus crafts and activities at the Kids’ Korner and food vendors.

Harvest Festival and Corn Maze in Mission Hills

September 30 – October 31: Corn maze covers four acres of twists and turns, this year theme is “Super Farmer” with a heroic theme.

Night of the Living Dead in Fullerton

October 6-29: A group of panicked survivors are barricaded in a deserted farmhouse while a horde of flesh-eating zombies hovers outside their door.

Weekends, September 22 – October 29: Gather friends and family to celebrate Oktoberfest with German food, dancing, kids’ activites and crafts.

Peltzer Farms Pumpkin Farm in Temecula

September 24-October 31: The farm features all fall activities including pumpkins, digging in the Peltzer Mine, pig races, train rides, pony rides and a petting farm.

Big Horse Feed and Mercantile Corn Maze

September 30 – October 30: Bring family and friends for old fashioned farm fun! Try your luck at the corn maze. Enjoy the pumpkin patch and maze daily; on weekends, enjoy more activities!

Academic Chess Friday Knights

Fridays: This fun tournament is open to all K-6th graders and includes three hours of chess, pizza and juice, plus trophies for the top four players in each age group!

Fall Harvest at Underwood Farms in Moorpark

September 30 – October 31: Weekend admission includes a tractor-drawn wagon ride, corn maze and hay pyramids, Animal Center with Fun Hill, Craig’s Chicken Show, Kid’s Corral and play area, plus live bands, an animal show, pig races and photo ops in the pumpkin patch.

Los Angeles Comic Con

October 27-29: With guest of honor, Stan Lee, the festival will be a treat for all comic, anime, gaming, scifi, fantasy and horor geeks.

Rides on the Great Park Balloon and Carousel in Irvine

Thursday – Sunday: The Great Park’s tethered, 118-foot-high, helium-filled balloon allows passengers to soar 400 feet in the air for a birds eye view. The carousel reaches a speed of 4.5 mph.

The Great Pumpkin Hunt South Coast Botanic Gardens

October 1 – November 30: Take a walk through the Garden and be on the lookout for ten festive fall stations. Each station will be decorated and have a pumpkin sign with questions about the Garden.

Haunted Trail of Laguna Niguel

October 26-28: Up on the hill behind the Laguna Niguel City Hall, sits the old abandoned courthouse.

Family Nature HIke at Crystal Cove

October 13, 15, 27, and 29: Join a park naturalist on a family nature hike to learn about the plants and animals living in the park.

Boone Children’s Gallery Storytimes at LACMA

Monday and Friday: Join Los Angeles Museum of Art in The Boone Children’s Gallery, located in the Hammer Building.

Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in Culver City

October 6-30: Started in 1986 by an Oregon Family, families enjoy a petting zoo, bounce house, pony rides, face painting, super slide, straw maze, pumpkin decorating, the new Capt. Billy Bones’ Jump & Fly, and a giant rocking horse (great photo op!).

Friday – Sunday: Visit a large-scale permanent craft marketplace in classic World War II-era waterside warehouses, plus creation stations, printmaking workshops, daily demonstrations, live music, special events and food trucks.
