Weekends and second Tuesdays: Eureka! Learn how to pan for gold, just like the 49ers did during the California gold rush, at an outdoor re-creation of a miner’s panning station.
September 17 – November 26: Hundreds of spiders are on view in the pavilion, along with scorpions and tarantulas in terrariums just outside.
September 16 – October 31: Pick the perfect pumpkin, ride the train or the ponies, jump around on haystacks or bounce house, wander through the hay maze or the haunted house, get your face painted, pan for gold or just play games and make crafts
Weekends, September 23 – October 29: Enjoy silly spooky shows, fun-fishy activities and photo opportunities with wacky characters.
September 23-24: In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day, the Aquarium of the Pacific will host its 16th annual Baja Splash Cultural Festival featuring live entertainment, crafts, educational programs, ethnic cuisine, and much more.
Sundays: MOLAA’s Target Free Sundays offer visitors the opportunity to learn about Latin American culture through art workshops, live performances, and gallery tours.
Fridays – Sundays, September 16 – October 31: Halloween-themed “Fright Fest” runs with low-scare areas for younger kids.
September 1-24: Visit the fair where everyone is bound to have a good time! Featuring exhibits and contests, live animals and shows, kids’ activities, historic trains, a family marketplace, plus plenty of crafts, rides, games and food!
Weekends: In a hands-on, simulated dig, kids experience the ancient Near East, learning methods for excavating a site and the importance of preserving archaeological artifacts.
Weekends in September: The festival aims to help educate the community about the programs benefiting the children of Orange County, featuring more than 65 charities.
Through November 26: Working apple orchards in Oak Glen, a mountain town halfway between Riverside and Palm Springs, open their doors to the public. Some offer U-pick apples.
Sundays: Dana Wharf Sportfishing offers a dockside experience for young fisherman.
September 21 – October 31: Scary Farm (13+) features 13 haunted attractions, live shows, multiple scare zones, and over a thousand costumed monsters roaming the park.
Weekends: The audience is always part of the show when the world famous Bob Baker Marionettes perform in-the-round.
Sundays, September 10 – October 29: An annual event that lets families enjoy Oktoberfest, featuring wiener dog (dachshunds) races, plus carnival games, live German music, bouncy houses street vendors, performers and family fun.
September 22-25: Dog owners hailing from as far as Florida, Australia and Brazil will be packing up their pups and bringing them to sunny Huntington Beach to participate in the Unleashed by Petco Surf City Surf Dog event.
Saturday and Sunday: Try your luck at finding the gold in the custom-designed Mission trough. They’ll supply the pan and the “gold” kids roll up their sleeves and pan their way to riches.
Weekends, September 22 – October 29: Gather friends and family to celebrate Oktoberfest with German food, dancing, kids’ activites and crafts.
September 24-October 31: The farm features all fall activities including pumpkins, digging in the Peltzer Mine, pig races, train rides, pony rides and a petting farm.
Thursday – Sunday: The Great Park’s tethered, 118-foot-high, helium-filled balloon allows passengers to soar 400 feet in the air for a birds eye view. The carousel reaches a speed of 4.5 mph.
Saturdays and Sundays: A family up to 5 can skate, including skate rental, for this special deal!
April 30 – December 3: Monthly, watch short-legged but swift Dachshunds race, like nothing you’ve seen before!
June 5, July 3, August 7 and September 4: Bring your own picnic and find a shady spot on the west lawn of La Casa Nueva. A variety of games and special surprises await.
September 23-24: This charity event benefitting children in need features rodeo events, live music and entertainmetnt, dancing, food and kids’ activities.
Sundays: Kids (8+) can spend the day at Fashion Camp learning to sew! Campers will complete a project of their choice in one day – perfect for the beginner or returning student!
Saturdays and Sundays: Familes stroll the craft fair, take in a train or carousel ride, try out the kid-sized tractor, operate a construction scoop, pan for gold, ride a pony, visit the petting zoo and see a magic show.
Weekends: The Newport Bay Conservancy offers a two-hour guided kayak tour of the Back Bay.
First and last Sundays:The perfect way to introduce young children (4-8) to the museum, this program brings together story-time and art-making in the galleries.
September 9-October 28: Celebrating 47 years of family fun, this annual weekend festival features authentic German entertainment, food contests and children’s activities, including a petting zoo, game booths, bounce house and face painting.
September 24: A special area is set aside just for kids include their very own music stage with bands just for them at this annual eco-friendly festival.
Friday – Sunday: Visit a large-scale permanent craft marketplace in classic World War II-era waterside warehouses, plus creation stations, printmaking workshops, daily demonstrations, live music, special events and food trucks.

September 24: The 14th annual car show offers some of the best-kept antique cars in the Southern California.

September 15 – November 4: With the heritage of making horror films for over 80 years, Universal Studios Hollywood brings the most terrifying live Halloween event in Los Angeles for brave souls ages 13+.
Wednesdays and Thursdays: Kids (5-17) interested in roller derby can join Long Beach Jr Roller Derby for practice. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m. MADhaus Indoor Training.
Sundays: Kids (4-9) join Mrs. Lund for story time and crafts.
Through October: Free family-friendly concerts will be held in parks, outdoor amphitheatres, community centers, libraries and museums throughout LA County featuring a variety of artists.
September 24: Soloists of all ages will perform in the annual Grace First Fall Family Concert.
September 23-24: Throughout the Museum get hands on with activities, meet paleontology experts, shop for dino-inspired gear, pop-up demos, paleo sketching, dig pits, nature journaling, use ComCo microblasting tools to clean fossils, and meet Buddy from the Dinosaur Train.
