Butterfly Pavilion at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden

May 13 – August 6: The Butterfly Pavilion unites science education and hands-on fun for visitors of all ages. Hundreds of butterflies call the temporary enclosure home during the spring and summer.

Pan for Gold at the Autry

Weekends and second Tuesdays: Eureka! Learn how to pan for gold, just like the 49ers did during the California gold rush, at an outdoor re-creation of a miner’s panning station.

Long Beach Firefighters’ Museum Open House

Second Saturdays and Wednesdays: Pumping demonstrations, antique displays and tours of old Fire Station No. 10.

Orange County Fair 2017

July 14 – August 13: The OC Fair is offers 23 days of food, rides, exhibits, animals, music, action sports, concerts and fun!

We Care Wednesday for Free OC Fair Admission

July 19 and 26, August 2 and 9: Receive one free admission to the fair and one carnival ride ticket with donations to local charities.

Sigler Park Splash Pad

Weekends, May 27 – June 18 and daily, June 24 – September 4: Splash Pad water features include ten-foot-tall pelicans, palm trees and sea horses.

Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles

March 19 – September 4: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLA) has re-designed and re-built its popular outdoor Butterfly Pavilion exhibit.

Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach

June 30 – September 3: Kids can take a spin at the potter’s wheel, see a glass-blowing demonstration, or take a seat in the Children’s Art Spot (4+) or Studio One (7+) to try painting, printmaking, collages and other types of art.

Summer Reading Programs

June 1 – August 15: Many libraries offer homework help, including academic workshops and story times. Plus, join the Summer Reading Program, June 1 – August 15. Young readers (kids and teens) at most Los Angeles County and Orange County libraries will enjoy a “Build a Better World” theme.

Summer Crafts for Kids at Mission San Juan Capistrano

June 19 – August 11: Kids (6-12) can drop in weekdays for a variety of crafts.

Annual Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts

July 5 – August 31: For over 80 years, this famous festival has featured multimedia art exhibits, demonstrations, workshops for adults and kids, art tours, live music and food for sale.

U-Pick Melon Tours at Tanaka Farms

July 1-31: Take a guided wagon ride around the farm, stop at different areas and try different summer fruits and vegetables, and finally step into the melon patch to sample delicious home grown melon.

Summer Concerts in Fullerton

Wednesdays, July 12 – August 9: Bring your family and friends to enjoy a night of music under the stars! Food will be available for purchase, but you’re welcome to bring a picnic plus lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

The Pageant Of the Masters in Laguna Beach

July 7 – August 31: Where art comes to life, the pageant features 90 minutes of “living pictures” – incredibly faithful art re-creations of classical and contemporary works with real people.
