Pan for Gold at the Autry

Weekends and second Tuesdays: Eureka! Learn how to pan for gold, just like the 49ers did during the California gold rush, at an outdoor re-creation of a miner’s panning station.

Long Beach Firefighters’ Museum Open House

Second Saturdays and Wednesdays: Pumping demonstrations, antique displays and tours of old Fire Station No. 10.

Sigler Park Splash Pad

Weekends, May 27 – June 18 and daily, June 24 – September 4: Splash Pad water features include ten-foot-tall pelicans, palm trees and sea horses.

Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles

Summer Reading Programs

June 1 – August 15: Many libraries offer homework help, including academic workshops and story times. Plus, join the Summer Reading Program, June 1 – August 15. Young readers (kids and teens) at most Los Angeles County and Orange County libraries will enjoy a “Build a Better World” theme.

Kids Bowl Free All Summer Long

Daily: Kids Bowl Free returns for its 9th summer! Kids across North America can bowl for free all summer long at one of 1,200+ participating bowling centers.

Movies in the Park in Long Beach

June 19 – August 24: Bring a lawn chair, blanket, picnic style dinner and the whole family for screenings of family-friendly movies all summer long, at neighborhood parks across Long Beach.

Twilight Summer Concerts in Downey

Wednesdays, June 21 July 19: Bring chairs and a picnic and enjoy food vendors and a concert in the park, with a different performer each week.

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program

May 16 – September 5: Kids read any eight books, record them, and bring the completed journal to any Barnes & Noble store to receive a free book.

Read with the Dogs in Fullerton

June 7, 21 and 28, July 19 and 26, August 2, 16 and 23: Drop by the children’s library and read to two golden retrievers from the Pet Prescription Team.

Concert in the Park in Tustin

June 21 – August 9: Pack a picnic basket or buy food from local non-profit vendors. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the show.

San Diego County Fair

June 2 – July 4: Grab your cowboy hat, pull on your boots, and ride on over to this year’s San Diego County Fair to celebrate the legendary rough-and-tumble Wild, Wild West.
