Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles

March 19 – September 4: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLA) has re-designed and re-built its popular outdoor Butterfly Pavilion exhibit.

Tour a Tallship in Dana Point

Sundays: Tour the Tallship Brig Pilgrim, an authentic replica of the two-masted brig that Richard Henry Dana Jr. sailed into Dana Point Harbor in 1834.

Sunset at the Santa Ana Zoo

June 11, 25, July 9 and 23: Friends of Santa Ana Zoo host these after hour’s concert series and tasting events that feature live music, art by local artisans, Zoo animals, Train and Carrousel rides.

Summer Reading Programs

June 1 – August 15: Many libraries offer homework help, including academic workshops and story times. Plus, join the Summer Reading Program, June 1 – August 15. Young readers (kids and teens) at most Los Angeles County and Orange County libraries will enjoy a “Build a Better World” theme.

Bob Baker Marionette Theater in Los Angeles

Bayou Festival in Long Beach

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program

May 16 – September 5: Kids read any eight books, record them, and bring the completed journal to any Barnes & Noble store to receive a free book.

Rides on the Great Park Balloon and Carousel in Irvine

Thursday – Sunday: The Great Park’s tethered, 118-foot-high, helium-filled balloon allows passengers to soar 400 feet in the air for a birds eye view. The carousel reaches a speed of 4.5 mph.

Andell Family Sundays at LACMA

June 4, 11, 18 and 25: This weekly family event features artist-led workshops and friendly gallery tours and activities thematically based on special exhibitions and LACMA’s permanent collection.

Antique Aircraft Display Days in Fullerton

Second Sundays: Visitors are invited to view the display of classic aircraft at the Fullerton Municipal Airport.
