Sand Crab Surveys at Santa Monica Pier Aquarium

Wednesday: Discover what lives below your toes at the beach and become a citizen scientist with naturalists at Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.

Long Beach Firefighters’ Museum Open House

Second Saturdays and Wednesdays: Pumping demonstrations, antique displays and tours of old Fire Station No. 10.

Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles

March 19 – September 4: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLA) has re-designed and re-built its popular outdoor Butterfly Pavilion exhibit.

Easter Eggstravaganza with Irvine Regional Railroad

March 25 – April 15: The annual Easter Eggstravaganza includes visits with the Easter Bunny, a moon bounce, egg hunts for ages 2-12, train rides, cookie decorating, games and activities for the whole family.

Butterfly Jungle at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park

March 11 – April 23: Thousands of exotic butterflies create a flurry of color and beauty as they flutter freely around you inside a huge aviary in the Hidden Jungle.

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

March 1 – May 14: The nearly 50 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are in bloom for just six to eight weeks each year, bringing the famous fields back to life.

Caterpillar Adoption Days at Kidspace

March 11 – April 23: Painted Lady Caterpillars will be available in the Busy Bee Learning Store (while supplies last on a weekly basis). Witness the magic of metamorphosis by adopting a Painted Lady Caterpillar.

Meet the Grunion at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

March 29: Watch the captivating grunion come up on the beach to spawn. Learn about the interesting mating rituals and biology of this curious fish.

Kids Happy Hour at Dream Come True Party Room

Most Wednesdays – Thursdays: Time for the kiddos to unwind from a long day. Stop by for dress-up from the Castle Wardrobe, face painting, snacks and crafts.

Weekly Tea Time at Dream Come True Party Room

Wednesdays: Tea time includes dress-up play from the Castle Wardrobe, mini muffins or cookies, fruit and refreshments, plus etiquette and storytelling.

Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard Swim Test Dates

March 5, 11, and 29: Kids (9-15) who are interested in participating in the summer program are required to try out with a swim test. There are four age divsions.

Parent and Me Time at the Shipley Nature Center

Wednesdays: Kids and thier parents enjoy nature, story time and crafts at the nature center.

Little Picassos in La Habra

Wednesdays and Thursdays: Kids (5-17) interested in roller derby can join Long Beach Jr Roller Derby for practice. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m. MADhaus Indoor Training.

Animal Action at Storymakery

Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays: Imagination at play! Join staff for a fun game of animal charades. For older kids, they use the Story Box, where a story will evolve with specific word tiles chosen from a box.

The Journey of Girl Scouts Empowering Young Women Exhibit in Santa Monica

January 24 – March 29: The Santa Monica History Museum celebrates the history of the Girl Scouts of the USA with its latest exhibit: The Journey of Girl Scouts: Empowering Young Women, a special 105 year anniversary event.

California Yarnscape in Los Angeles

March 14-June 25: See one-of-a-kind pieces by fiber artists, knitters, and crocheters that respond to the question, “What is a California landscape to you?”

Free Mini-Glam Madness in March at Bold Girls

March 1-31: Kids join free Mini-Glams throughout March. Includes one-hour hair and makeup, nails, singing, dancing and fashion show.

11th Annual Creative Visions Exhibition

March 24 – April 8: The annual exhibition of student art presents works created by students from grades K-12 representing the Huntington Beach City School District, the Huntington Beach Union High School District, and the Ocean View School District.
