Ahh, how exhilarating new things can be! And, boy, do Kidsguide readers know it. Below are the latest winners of the Kidsguide Challenge 2010/Scavenger Hunt Contest.

Multiple entries are accepted in this summer-long contest, so the more submissions, the greater the chances of winning. Readers Sheri Galvan, Kelly Haynes, Susanne Shapiro and Cindy Walters each win a Summer Prize Pack: certificates redeemable for two  free Rainforest Cafe kids’ meals, Golf N’ Stuff vouchers, Orange County Bowling Trailer game passes, and a City Pass packet.

Read on to learn what their families have been up to:

Try Something New: Healthy Eating Winner (Week 1) – Kelly Haynes

The Haynes family visited Tanaka Farms last month to check out the family-owned farm’s Outdoor BBQ Tour.

Kelly shares, “I took my three children: Dawson (10 yrs. old), Alana (8 yrs. old), and Malia (3 yrs.old), to the Tanaka Farms Outdoor BBQ Tour. It is different than the strawberry picking tour, in that you start by picking a wide variety of vegetables, go to a cleaning station to wash everything you picked, then chop and season your vegetables, and finally wrap them in foil and have them BBQ’ed to your liking.

“They also offered fresh salad, another hot vegetable dish, and water. After we enjoyed our vegetables, we went into the strawberry fields and each picked a basket full of strawberries and are encouraged to eat as many as you can along the way! It is a unique tour and worth the price.” Check out Dawson (pictured left) and his veggies!

Try Something New: Exercise/Fitness Winner (Week 2) – Sherri Galvan

Sherri’s son, Nicholas Galvan (pictured left), ran in the Long Beach Tadpole Trot in June. She writes, “Nicholas tried running for exercise by participating in the Tadpole Trot – a 1K run for kids that was part of the Wrigley River Run here in Long Beach.

Try Something New: Destinations Winner (Week 3) – Cindy Walters
Cindy shares a roaring-good adventure – Roar and Snore Sleepover at the San Diego Wild Animal Park – enjoyed earlier this month by her daughter Emma:

“My 9 year old daughter Emma just spent the night at the San Diego Wild Animal Park with her dad. She loved sleeping in a tent near the lions and waking up in the early morning by their roars. They walked through the park usually off-limits to visitors, had a nice barbeque dinner, snacks before bed and a hearty breakfast. She took pictures during the tram ride and the special close-up encounters with many animals. It is a once in a lifetime experience for kids, small and big alike!”

Try Something New: Service/Volunteer Winner (Week 4) – Susanne Shapiro

Over the July 4th weekend, the Shapiro family gave back together. Susanne describes:

“My children and my husband helped put together bikes and decorate them for underprivileged children in Long Beach at the July 4th Bike Parade. They got up early and brought lots of flags and painters tape to decorate the brand new bikes. Then we all rode the bikes along with 600 others in this wonderful bike parade.”

The game’s not over yet! You still have time to enter the contest, ongoing until Sept. 4. Good luck and, most importantly, have a good time!
