Chocolate Festival in Long Beach

February 9: A street full of chocolate! Approximately 25 merchants will offer chocolate in various styles, plus join the homemade chocolate dessert contest and Hof’s Hut chocolate pie-eating contest.

Free Nature Tour at the Fullerton Arboretum

Second and Fourth Saturday: Meet a nature guide at the Nature Center for a wonderful free tour through the garden.

Knott’s Peanuts Celebration in Buena Park

Select dates, January 26 – March 10: Guests can join Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy and the rest of the Peanuts Gang as the park celebrates the world that Charles M. Schulz created.

Alhambra Lunar New Year Celebration

February 9: Celebrate Lunar New Year with a street festival covering five full city blocks, with lion dances, kung fu demonstrations and other ethnic performances. Young and old alike enjoy fun giveaways, games and ethnic foods.

Lunar New Year Festival at Universal Studios

February 2-17: Celebrate the Year of the Pig during Lunar New Year at Universal Studios Hollywood. Join Po and Tigress from Kung Fu Panda in Po’s Village and savor Asian dishes at Mr. Ping’s Noodle Shop. Meet Illumination’s Minions in traditional Chinese attire and Mandarin-speaking Megatron from Transformers.

Downtown Long Beach Beach Clean-up

Second Saturday: Join a beach clean. They have clean-up supplies, but encourage participating persons to bring their own water bottle and plastic bags to cut down on added trash.

Lunar New Year for Kids at Pacific Symphony

February 9: Join Pacific Symphony for a special fun-filled Lunar New Year concert celebrating the Year of the Pig, designed especially for kids (5-11). Preceeding the fun and fascinating 45-minute concert, kids can join in at the interactive Musical Carnival.

Panning for Gold, Adobe Brick Making and Arrowhead Necklace Craft at the Mission

Saturday and Sunday: Try your luck at finding the gold in the custom-designed Mission trough. They’ll supply the pan and the “gold;” kids roll up their sleeves and pan their way to riches.
