“Treasure Island” in Long Beach

April 30, May 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9: Long Beach Shakespeare Drama Programs presents “Treasure Island,” a comedy with music. Come enjoy a musical for kids by kids. This version of the classic tale has the villainous Long John Silver enlisting the aid of female pirates to help him get to “Treasure Island” and the infamous chest of gold buried there. With the help of young Jim Hawkins, Captain Livesey, Squire Trelawney, and even a very “human-like” parrot, the search turns into lots of fun. 1st Annual Shakespeare Sonnet Writing Contest

through April 2: Long Beach Shakespeare Drama Programs presents, in celebration of Shakespeare’s Birthday Month, a sonnet writing contest where students are invited to submit original sonnets. Meet the Grunion at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium
